PPD Rating done today,.. not sure what to think
Well, my rating has been done, just not sure how it will end up. Here is how it went...
I was told by my doc and by my attorney that the rating doc should not physically push my arm further than where I can take it on my own. When he started measuring areas he had me stop when I felt pain, then keep going until I couldn't go any further, at that point he would grab my arm (not so gently) and move it as far as he could . My eyes welled up a few times from the pain but I refused to cry. He wrote down measurements at all three points. He did this with each movement I was asked to do. At the end, I asked him, "since you took three different measurements, which one do you use for my rating?". He said he used the middle one and that if he thought someone was being dishonest, he would use the latter, he said he didn't think that was the case with me. Wow, Thanks My attorney is out of town until Jan 10 but I spoke with his assist. who said it was probably a good thing I took someone with me. In the event we need to dispute his rating, they will use her as a witness. It will be interesting to see how it turns out. I won't know for about two weeks. I can usually read people fairly well but could not figure this guy out at all LOL... Now I'm sitting on pins and needles. I'm not looking to hit the lottery here I'll be lucky to see 1/2 of a years salary, which is nothing considering my employer informed me today that it is unlikely they will accommodate my permanent restrictions. They have already discussed it with corporate and are just waiting for the letter, "a formality" they say Really makes me want to give my best effort at work, unfortunately, I am not the kind of person who can be nonproductive intentionally! Yes, I will get Voc Rehab, but as a max wage earner I won't even bring home 2/3 of my average monthly wage. Any opinions on cashing out Voc Rehab vs. taking the payments? AWWW Have to love the WC system. Sorry if I sound bitter but I am! Thanks for letting me rant and thanks for the input. I truly APPRECIATE this board and everyone here!!! Happy New Year! |

RE: PPD Rating done today,.. not sure what to think
We all understand about being bitter. Its hard not to be most of the time when we are dealing with employers or their doctors. I wish you luck with the outcome but can say never trust what they say like he believes you. What is sad is when employer could work with you in setting up a job you can do but just decide they don't want you around.

I agree it is very sad, I have been with my employer for 7 years now without so much as a verbal warning for anything! I've always worked hard and done everything they have asked and then some. Just shows we are nothing but a number to them Oh well, time to move on and see what other doors open. Who knows, may be a blessing in disguise I'm going to try to stay positive and start looking for a new job! Have a Happy New Year! |
