Am I doing the right thing by looking for an Attorney?
I am in California-
I will try to put my situation in a nutshell! Approx 8 months ago I had a slip and fall at work. They found via X-ray that I fractured my Tail Bone. I was referred to another doctor and that doctor ordered a bone scan....WC was lagging on the approval for it, so I contacted my company and they stepped in. Sure enough WC started responding quickly on things. Well now I have pain that radiates through my legs and in my feet. It makes it really hard to walk some days. I was referred to a PM doc (it took 5 weeks for WC to approve) and he suggested that I might have injured my lower back as well and requested an MRI. It is 3 weeks later and I have been STALKING my case worker because I woke up about 10 days ago and I couldn't walk at all! It was so scary! My case worker is just not responding to me. They wont approve me to see a doctor unless the Utilization board approves the MRI. I am at my wits end and I'm not sure what to do other than look for an attorney, which saddens me because I really love my company, but I just want proper treatment in a timely manner and I feel like I am getting worse because WC is so non responsive.

I don't know if I should try and call my employer again to get them to step in or if there is anything they can even do? It's eight months later....

I have set some appointments with lawyers this week. I just want to make sure I am doing the right thing.

Thank you so much for reading!!

wait around a bit 1171 will be on he is an expert on Ca WC and he will be able to tell you what steps to take

;)Workmans comp is not a road you want to travel alone. You need a good lawyer,a great family and good friends to lean on.If you make it thru without losing everything you have worked for all your life, you have come out ahead of the game.....Smile

RE: Am I doing the right thing by looking for an Attorney?
what you really need is a doctor willing to battle the UR delays and or denial.
Utilization Review requires the treating doctor challenge the lack of response to treatment requests.
an atty really has little or no control over those things.
you can change doctors within the MPN at any time.
it's possible you might find an atty who knows doctors in your community who will take the time and trouble to deal with the Utilization review system.

the UR rules are here
http://www.dir.ca.gov/dwc/UR_Main.htm

you can search for attys by zip code here
