update
After the last 4 injections ordered from my new ortho surgeon I had a follow up today... He was pleased with the results from the injections and gave me 3 choices... 1 I can keep going the way I am but with some med changes. 2 I can get the rfa's done and see how long the relief gives.. 3 He will do the surgery and do the cages at l4-l5 and l5-s1 and will have to wear a back brace for 16 weeks... He says I am at risk of infection (mersa) since my previous history...
He said to me, I'm a surgeon and usually push for the surgery, but recomends I do the rfa's first. He stated to me and my ncm that I may never return to the work force, but would like to get me off the narcs that I'm on or at least get me on lower doses.... My wife and I sat down and talked it through, with her being pregnant she does not want me under the knife until after the baby arives... I have decided to go with the rfa's and if they last, well great and if they dont then I will decide weather I get the surgery done.... I cant get the surgery done until feb and 16 weeks later puts her close to delivery time.. I cant see putting her through taking care of me if somthing goes wrong and add the extra stress. What are your thoughts on waiting for the surgery...? I have learned how to avoid movements that increases my levels.. |

RE: update
Bronco...you know the risks of surgery...if I were in your wifes shoes I also would ask you to wait...try the RFAs if they dont work then after the little one comes and your wife gets back on her feet...then the surgery.....you wanna be by her side when that little one comes screaming into this world.......Lord I hope she has red hair and a temper to match....
;)Workmans comp is not a road you want to travel alone. You need a good lawyer,a great family and good friends to lean on.If you make it thru without losing everything you have worked for all your life, you have come out ahead of the game.....

Thanks Jayne, That was our thinking as well as thier is to much at risk... My ncm just became aware of our gift last week and today she made the comment "off the record" I should clearly think of the whole picture and whats involved.. She seems to be a well natured ncm but truley its my decision... My drs call her my second wife.......lol.... No thanks one is enough... But fact is I wont put my wife and child at risk............ God I cant wait..... a little munchkin running around again... My son is starting to come around on the baby sister/brother thing... He says it has to be a boy because he says he would rather pull his brother out of the ditch then beat up his sisters boyfriends.............lol.. My wife is feeling better and starting to put on weight, she does not like the weight she is putting on and I tell her its worth every pound........ |
