MMI Question
I am living in California. I have one more xray to determine that my neck fusion is healed. Unfortunately, it has been determined by my doctor that the bone is fine, but the nerves are damaged and that there is nothing else medically that can be done for me. My primary treating doctor has also determined that. Asking if I will be declared MMI, she told me she wants me to enter a kind of body/mind program to deal with the constant pain due to the nerve damage.
Does enrolling in a mind/body/group 'how do you feel' curriculum put off a final MMI determination? From what I understand, MMI means that medically all that has been done can be done. Does trying to change your 'lifestyle thinking', as this program is geared to do, concidered medical? |

RE: MMI Question
that's up to a physician but not usually; dealing with pain is not usually associated with functional improvement.
no, MMI= Maximum Medical Improvement not usually but up to a doctor. |
