FCE, a few questions...

Hello everyone,

I don't get on the forum as much as I'd like these days, hope you all are doing well!

I went to my doc this week and he said at my next visit, 1 month out, he will be requesting an FCE to be performed. I was granted only 8 more PT visits at the time and I feel no where near ready. I am still on only a 3 lb lifting restriction. Still have quite a bit of pain when using the arm for most anything (wiping down table, putting dishes up, hanging up close etc...)

My questions are;

1. Doesn't this seem too soon to be considering an FCE with these restrictions still in place?

2. Do I get a rating at the FCE or is this just to determine if I will have permanent restrictions?

3. If the doc wanted more PT sessions, can the IC really say no she can only have 8 more?

4. Doc said at six months, I will be as good as I will get. How can this be when I still have such difficulty doing just the everyday basics?

Don't get me wrong, I have seen great improvement from the first few weeks where I couldn't even lift my arm enough to put deodorant on LOL. I'm just no where close to where I thought I would be when they cut me loose. Can it really be that this is as good as it will get? Just frustrated because it really is not acceptable to me as it is. I have not missed an appt for PT, done everything they have asked and seem to have plateaued for some reason. I'm sure it didn't help that every three weeks the IC would deny my PT and it would take a couple of weeks to fight and get it approved

3. yes, Nevada uses Managed Care Organization to control medcical utilization
4. the doctor has more experience then you and they make the determination.

an FCE can be given at any time to document the recovery process
