WC wants me to see their doc
I've seen two surgeons for 2 herniated discs and other back issues. Both recommend surgery. I've exhausted multiple conservative measures. The WC adjuster wants me to see "their" doctor. What should I expect.

RE: WC wants me to see their doc
well you should expect to show up with all medical records to include copies of any discograms, mris or any other tests or treatments you have had done......cuz sometimes those dont seem to make it to "their" Dr and he says your just fine and sends you back to work....to include right on top the copies of the letters of the 2 Drs saying you need surgery.......then you go see him you just might be surprized he may just agree.....then YOU do a whole lot of study on the internet on lower back fusions.

;)Workmans comp is not a road you want to travel alone. You need a good lawyer,a great family and good friends to lean on.If you make it thru without losing everything you have worked for all your life, you have come out ahead of the game.....Smile

RE: WC wants me to see their doc
Go see him with all your records just like jayne said. He could agree with what they have said and this could help your case but he might not. Also as she said find out all you can about your options because it's your back and you want to make the right move. I was worried when I spoke with surgeons not because they might want to operate but because they might just want to make some money off me and never help in the end. Most of the time they send us to see their doctor because they are only wanting to save money but sometimes I'm sure they just want to make sure they are spending the money on the right things.

RE: WC wants me to see their doc
Your going to an IME doctor for a medical Opinion paid for by the Insurance. This doctor can not treat you. Only give a medical opinion. Also you need to make sure this doctor has treated spinal patients in the past, performed spinal surgery and such. If not, you need to get this doctor changed to one that has treated spinal patients. You need to call this IME office, and ask if they have all your up to date medical records, if not ask if you can supply the ones missing. Ask if they have your up to date X-rays, MRI's, Cat-Scans with written reports/ But, in Illinois, they do tell you to bring those films and reports with you. Make sure you do have them all.
