FOR GARRETT
And God said No
I asked God to give me patience.
And God said, No.
Patience is a by-product of trials;
it isn’t granted, it is learned.

I asked God to give me happiness.
And God said, No.
I give you blessings: happiness is
for you to find in contentment.

I asked God to spare me pain.
And God said, No.
Suffering draws you apart from the
world and brings you closer to me.

I asked God to take away a habit.
And God said, No.
It is not for me to take away,
but for you to give up.

I asked God to make a handicapped
child’s body whole.
And God said, No.
For his spirit is whole, and his
body is only temporary.

I asked God for all things that
I might enjoy life.
God said, No.
I will give you life that you may
enjoy all things.

I asked God to help me love others,
as much as he loves me.
God said yes,
For you now have the right idea.

RE: FOR GARRETT
Thank you Jayne that is a wonderful poem.

I have printed it and will be sharing it with the family.

The family has been looking for something to be read at the funeral.
