AME TODAY
I had my AME today, which I was dreading. Actually, the vibe was relaxed, it was almost like seeing my regular Family Dr.! ( I guess I got lucky). The staff and Dr. were professional with a sense of humor. Does anybody know what happens next? How long typically does it take for my Attorney to get the report? Is this a make or break examination? Regarding my last post about my husband being allowed in the exam room with me, he was not. Thanks for all your replies. I really appreciate the support I get from this forum. This is a brave new world for me!

RE: AME TODAY
The doctor your attorney and the claims administrator agree on is called an agreed medical evaluator (AME). [ Just information for those that may not know what an AME is]
When I ever had a IME performed (which is the same as an AME in your State) I had always supplied a written letter to that Doctor's Office requesting a Copy of the written report be sent to me. That way when the report comes out, they just need to send one more copy out. I have heard the reports take up to 30 days to generate and then sent out, but, have seen as long as 60 days with some people. Now all you have to do, is simply ask your attorney to send you a copy as soon as they obtain their copy. I hope the report is in your favor, as we seen so many times the opposite on the report to what is said in the office. Being it sounds like yours will be favorable though. Reply's are intended solely for informational purposes. They are based on personal opinions, experience, or research and are "not to be taken as fact or legal advice", otherwise, always consult an attorney or a doctor. |

RE: AME TODAY
AME report will take much longer. about as long as it took to get the apt. there is no time limit.
what happens next depends on the AME findings --there is no one answer to every medical evaluation. it is make or break depending on the the issue i.e. the AME has the final say as to medical evidence--the judge can still decide the issues. |
