Rating coming up, got a question.
Hey folks im new to this site and have a few questions. Ok I live in GA and last Nov I was involved in a work accident caused by a another company other than the one I worked for. My right leg was nearly severed when a concrete truck rolled down a hilled and the concrete shoot snapped my leg pealing off most of the skin from knee to ankle and compound fracturing the bones. I have made amazing strides in recovering but still have alot of tightness and and noticible limp. The doctor had to do emergency surg. to place a tit. rod from knee to ankle and ive had a few skin graphs also to repair skin. Ok thats the short form lol my question is im going in a couple weeks to see doc again and I have a feeling he is gonna MMI me, when he does my rating will he just rate my leg or since there was damage done to my ankle and knee where they had to attach the screws for the rod or will he have to rate my leg, knee and ankle seperate. Is there even a rating for your knee or ankle or do they just view that as leg. I have had an atty from day one in the hospital and they do a wonderful job on my MC case and personal injury but its just easier to get an outside opinion in this matter. Thanks for any advice or info.

RE: Rating coming up, got a question.
they rate the different parts and then calculate a whole person impairment rating.
Georgia uses the 5th edition of the AMA rating guides. your doctor should have a copy. impairment ratings are complex. ask them to discuss the process with you. |

So he would have to do the whole body impairment rating instead of just my leg since a few areas were hurt? I guess I would think he'd just do my leg since its all in one area, the knee and below. I just wanted to know before I go see him so I know what to ask. |

RE: Rating coming up, got a question.
It's a whole body rating. meaning how one area of the body affects the whole body.

Haven't they taught you in PT on how not to put all your weight onto one leg? That should be part of the course?

Im done with PT I did like 60 sessions then WC cut it off, therapist said he had done all he could for me and that I will never have more than 65% use of that leg. |
