Lost in a Workers Comp Nightmare

Question Lost in a Workers Comp Nightmare
I work for the federal government and I was injured on my job on 5/18/2007. I began receiving workers comp benefits in August 2007. I have been seeing an orthopedc specialist since the injury. He advised me that I needed surgery. More than 3 years have passed and I have not received any kind of therapy or treatment for my injuries. I have contacted my attorney, my workers comp specialist, my congressman and have even written to the Dept of Labor in Washington, D.C. No one seems to have an answer as to why I have been waiting for more than 3 years for treatment. Does anyone have any suggestions?

get treatment at your own expense and put in for reimbursement.

RE: Lost in a Workers Comp Nightmare
I was denied treatment/surgery for over 2years with a split 90% compressed T12 vertebrate.
Paying for my surgery out of my pocket would be a fictional thought considering the overall cost was over 200k and my post surgery treatment continues 7 years later...

Sometimes no answer is better than a smart ass answer. Most on this forum have no Insurance, No Money, Piled up bills and there Credit is in shambles due to the unforeseen work related Injury. Not even speaking about there kids, marriage etc.
It is early in the morning but.....

What is your Injury and what are you being told? Are you still considered Injured?
I had to fight to get a appointment with a spine specialist but I never gave up. My Attorney at the time was little help so I became knowledgeable and refused to allow the WC Case/Nurse Mangers and ho Doctors to force me to prematurely throw in the towel.

First, Believe in yourself. Let us know a few more specifics so we can help.

bird: the post was not meant for you or your obviously different situation.
don't start commenting on my posts or trying to characterize my intentions negatively.
this board does not need self- designated righteous mentalists who can see thru words and phases and impune criticism when there is none.
instigators are the bane of these message boards;
you got a problem --let Kate and admin handle it. it's not your job.
back off.

RE: Lost in a Workers Comp Nightmare
It would help in answering your post if we knew what state you are from, work comp is state specific.

When I joined this forum one of the first things I was advised by 1171 and others was to learn my state work comp laws.

This is where you need to start:

I've been down the road you are traveling, I was injured in 2005, it was 36 months later before I had a much needed knee replacement.

Learning the skills of advocating for yourself is very important in the work of work comp, sounds like you are going in the right direction with the contacts you have made.

Good luck!

Washington, D.C

Might I ask, what has your attorney been saying about this delay, and what have they been doing about it to help you?

RE: Lost in a Workers Comp Nightmare
Federal employees are covered under the Federal Workers' Compensation Act so the State is not necessary. http://www.workerscompensation.com/federal.php
