Computer Question???
Does anyone know if email can be hacked, without knowing the user's email password?
Reason for asking is I received a HIGH SECURITY alert this morning that someone attempted to hack my email INBOX, but the intruder was stopped. I went into the details, to try and see if I could copy the URL address but the system wouldn't allow a copy or a printout. Why would someone want my email? Any ideas? Let Go, and Let God...... |

RE: Computer Question???
Sorry CC., I have never heard of that before.
However, I have heard of personal information being taken from some sites. Then the individuals friends are sent e-mails saying that the individual is in need of money and where to send the money. 8-05, Micro laminectomy/disectomy. 10-05 lumbar fusion L5-S1. 2-07 exploritory surgery. 12-07 medical implant, Spinal Cord Stimulator. now receiving SSDI. Jesus died for our sins. Soilders died for our freedom. |

RE: Computer Question???
Chris..it is very easy to hack in to a web email address. Some are easier than others. Typically however, the person who is trying to hack would know something about you ... for instance... if you put in the person user id or can't do either but know the email address then you will go through a serious of issues to get a new password. Some will ask you a question, then send it to the email address that you have listed with the email being hacked in to. The one site that is the worse to hack is ????. It is almost impossible to hack in to that site..???? and ??? are easy.. ???? can be difficult... how do I know...it is a long story and not worth going into.. but to answer your question yes it can happen. RE: Computer Question???
Interesting. Thanks everyone for the info and replies. I'm not worried as Norton stopped the hacker. But, as a precaution, I did change all my passwords.
Wink, that is scary!

RE: Computer Question???
Chris...if in the case you are referring too... Norton which is your security software stopped the situtiona and notified you, then it had nothing to do with a web email.. it sounds more like your own personal network that this person was trying to hack in to..I know nothing about this... so just ignore my earlier post. RE: Computer Question???
Chris,Del told me a long time ago to change my passwords every month but I have memory problems and alot of online accounts and to change them all would be a nightmare......Del gave me a easy way to remember them......I am glad your software stopped them......I had a problem a couple of weeks ago but my software also got them
;)Workmans comp is not a road you want to travel alone. You need a good lawyer,a great family and good friends to lean on.If you make it thru without losing everything you have worked for all your life, you have come out ahead of the game.....

RE: Computer Question???
Sounds more like hijacking was being attempted... Where they try to have you log on to a site, and then they place a worm into your system, then e-mails automaticly get sent out from you, without your control.
