RE: Bilateral Knee Injuries
I just wanted to share the cost of my TKR in 2008; the surgery and rehab was $59,000.
I am told it cost much more today for a TKR, only two years later. My surgery was done in the state of Kansas. |

Bad Boy Bad Boy Wrote:If you do settle your case, and need a TKR down the road after it is settled, there may be a chance, you will have to pay for the TKR out of the settlement money. I only wanto to be able to pay for doctors bills , but hopefully they will take into account that in a couple of years i will need TKR, and if I keep my medical open they would probably be liable. Do they try to settle before they have to pay for this type of surgery? and do they take into account the cost of the surgery even though they pay at a discounted rate? has anyone had any experience in this area? does anyone know is the mmi rating the same as whole body. both knees have 4% and 6 restrictions. do they rate them separtely or as one? |

RE: Bilateral Knee Injuries
First off you will never know what they think. Answers to your questions will be only EXAMPLE answers.
Without open medical in a settlement, why would they think of the TKR being needed, it is less money for them then. Will they try to settle before the surgery, yep, all the time they try. Does anyone know what the rating of MMI is that you have, not at all. till you tell us what it states. The whole thing is, if you think for one minute they care about you, then try and think again, because your wrong, your nothing but a number in a book, or in the computer. They don't see you. They know you by your number. Reply's are intended solely for informational purposes. If the doctor has said you will need a TKR, they will take that into consideration. Yes, they will try to settle before surgery and yes it at a discounted rate. If they paid the entire cost there would be no incentive to settle. MMI is usually stated as a percentage of the "body as a whole" Percentages for different body parts are combined. (not always added together, there is a combination chart that is used) A 4% and another 4% might be combined to 6%. (I don't have the chart in front of me right now so I'm guessing) ****Actually, I believe at that level it might just get added and be 8%**** |

RE: Bilateral Knee Injuries
Thank you for your insight, I find that they are heartless and I know they do not care about the person as you stated we are nothing but a number to them.
I am going to see my doctor this month for the pain can sometimes be unbearable. I just want to get on with my life without having to worry about wc watching me. |

RE: Bilateral Knee Injuries
Well, if you think it's bad at 2 years, I have been in it since 2000, at 10 years. Like I said it is slow.
