Back injuries
I am curious is anyone had something similure happen to them.
I got up early today and had to get to two campuses to get some pricing and register for classes. Anyway, I had to go to each campus twice. I was walking at a steady pace, using stairs as need be. Either up or down. Made no difference, I was a man on a mission. I know I was violating my permanent restriction. After I left the last campus. I was driving home and the back of my left thiegh, all the sudden felt like it was being stabbed. It got to the point that I almost locked up the breaks in the middle of traffic. Fotunately it subsided after a few minutes. If it had continued. I would have gone to the hospital. Has anyone had something like that happen to them??? The only thing that I can think of is that the S1 nerve is still trying to regenerate ( heal its self ). Any ideas?? 8-05, Micro laminectomy/disectomy. 10-05 lumbar fusion L5-S1. 2-07 exploritory surgery. 12-07 medical implant, Spinal Cord Stimulator. now receiving SSDI. Jesus died for our sins. Soilders died for our freedom. |

RE: Back injuries
AQA,my thighs hurt all the time....I have had falling issues since my injury so try to be very careful....this week I fell out of the steps of the camper the only thing that saved my nose was I had a tight grip on the handrails.....back injuries are so strange I have a new pair of shoes that when I wear them my back doesnt hurt near as much...think you might should bring this up to your DR....
;)Workmans comp is not a road you want to travel alone. You need a good lawyer,a great family and good friends to lean on.If you make it thru without losing everything you have worked for all your life, you have come out ahead of the game.....

RE: Back injuries
When walking up or down stairs, even up or down a curb. You move the spine up and down from one side to the other, and can slightly upset things anywhere within the spine. Once relaxed mode is in place, you get the pain, and if not a serrious condtion, the problem will subside. (Kind of like putting your spine in a Rocking Chair, only a side to side rocking to affect)...

RE: Back injuries
Aqa.... I feel your pain.
I get the same effects constantly, I get them when I was working/driving/sleeping, when I'm home trying to mow the lawn... They tried to say I dont drink enough water then they said I dont stretch enough... I have heard all the bs from the drs untill recently I have severe nerve damage in my pelvis area and in my hip and leg. Its made me mad that they tried to brush off my problems when it was only in my left leg and left low back. And that is the side that has the most hardware.. It's sad when I am at pt and he knows that excersise and stretching anything from mid back down kicks up the cramps almost like clock work... I have had those episodes while driving and let me tell you's its not safe at all, I have had to many close calls trying to get the truck stopped. Just yesterday I had to go to the store and my muscle was twitching and when I was almost to the store it happened... But mine last up to 15 to 20 min and I was stuck in the midle of the road with my cane, nothing to lean on and my back is in so much pain tring to minipulate my body to ease the stabbing/ripping feeling.. My dr has rx'ed me Gabbapentin 600 mg for that reason and seems to help but not the cure. |

RE: Back injuries
Thank you all for your responces. I have decided not to make a special appointment with the neuro-surgeon. I will wait until my regular follow up visit and talk to him about it then.

RE: Back injuries
All is as about normal as normal can be. A little side effect, meaning stiff muscels, but that is about all.
I know what you mean about the sleep patterns. Your not the only one. Since I have been out of school for the summer 1 semester. I am up late and getting up latter.
