Primary Dr
I have alot of dr's in my wc injury, 6 in fact. The pain clinic says I need to take more narcotics, my injury dr overseeing my treatment is tring to keep me from taking them.. My primary dr, has advised me to stop torturing my self with all the injections and says I need a good med cocktail to cope with my injury... Primary says from day 1 to go for disability, and says my pain wont get better but will worsen if I remain trying to work a 7 day a week employment....

My employer wont let me take any kind of narcotics while on the clock, nor will they accept any work restrictions.... My goal all along was to try to stay active and work as long as I could tolerate it.. Lawyer, his help is not needed untill I am denied any help or placed at mmi.. WC, has never denied any kind of treatment, have always been ther for meds and mileage..

I have decisions to make and I know I am the only one that can make them.. I am influenced by the fact, if you make your bed you must lay in it, and some dont get a second chance and want to do this only once and the correct way..

My wife, my parents say where will I be in 5 years from now with the injuries I have, and will I still be able to work..??? They belive on on a downward scope and think I should consider going for disability.. I'm just afraid that everything I have worked for will be gone by the time they would aprove me....

Sorry this is long, but had to get this off my chest........now to the Question....

My big question is..... Does my primary dr have the autority to pull me from work, knowing I have all the other drs that seem to think I can work....??????

RE: Primary Dr
Hi Bronco! If Your Primary Dr. is the Dr.Accepted as the Dr. of record on Your w/c case, Yes He can Pull You from Work. You May have to Obtain an Attorney, or Use the One You have, I can;t Remember if You have One or not. If Pulled You should be able to Receive TTD as long as Your Claim has been Accepted, and You can Apply for SSDI. You were Fortunate to be able to Work, I can't go 8 Hours without Meds. I would be in Bed in Intense Pain. I have to Give You Credit for Working as Long as You have, I know You Hurt, but You have to Think of Your Future Health, and what Working is doing to Your Injury and Current Condition. I went to a Total of 10, (A Mix of Both Ortho. and Neuro. Surgeons) Trying to get Back to work, but to No Avail, My Injuries are just too Bad, so at 43 SSDI Approved Me in 3mos./3wks. without an Attorney. The Decision is as You have said Totally Yours, but in My Opinion just Look around at Your Family and Take Stock in Your Life, and the Answer will Come. It may be a Bit of a Battle, but I think in the Long Run, from knowing You Here on the Forum, You should Strongly Consider Disability, and Enjoy Your Family and Lessen Your Pain!Wink

RE: Primary Dr
while your doctor is evidence supporting you to be off work, other doctors support the carrier's position not to pay you.
disputed medical opinions often have to go to the comp court for a determination.
it's likely you'll be off work without comp payments until it's decided.
which will prevail will depend more on the quality and extent of supporting medical findings, as well as the reasonableness of the opinion rather then the number of doctors.

RE: Primary Dr
Thanks regrets & 1171, as predicted by my surgeon I would get to a peak after 2 years and then would drop to a certain level. It will be 3 years this nov, and am still falling below my best....

RE: Primary Dr
Bronco

I have a good friend who worked as a pharmacy tech at Wal Mart. She was in an auto accident about 8 years ago, broke her neck, surgeries with hardware.

My friend continued to work her job for several years while in intense pain, and taking her pain meds to survive.

I had been encouraging my friend to file for SSD but she wanted to continue wokring as long as she could. (One can not be working when applying for SSD or SSDI)

One morning she woke up and couldn't move, couldn't get out of bed.
Her family called 911 and my friend was admitted to the hospital for several days, she was then forced to quit her job.

My friend qualified for SSD first time without an attorney. My friend will never work again, she says her pain has improved since she is able to stay at home and take care of herself.

RE: Primary Dr
Bummer, that is false, as a person can work while on SSDI, but is only allowed to make a certain amount of money... tell you friend to work part time....

RE: Primary Dr
I Believe it's $9k a Year but You can Work on SSDI as long as You can Stay within Your Restrictions. It's Best to Double Check the Monetary amount though!

RE: Primary Dr
Yes they can, although they can not be working at the time they apply.

They can work once they are receiving benefits.

This information came from my intake worker at the local SSA office.

RE: Primary Dr
I like to see that information though, as I have seen others work at a Mim income and get it....

RE: Primary Dr
Here in Illinois it is possable, My sis was working a min wage job and applied and received SSDI. she is now on SS retirement, as after retirement age she could no longer collect SSDI. You can't have both, But you can collect Retirement SS and SSI from the state at the same time. SSI is a supplement for low income or dissabled people. and can be collected at any age. It is Federal Funded, distributed by each state.
