Update on my 360 lumbar fusion
ok so it has been 5 week since I had the surgery and well i am not sure if I am much better at all, I mean the pain is a bit better but my left thigh goes numb, my right big toe has been numb since surgery not to mention the electric shock pain I am still having in my left leg and foot, my kids have noticed me dragging my left foot when I walk.
I am angery and sad that it took so long to get the sugery for when they went in they found more damage then there was when they first wanted to do the surgery, I find myself getting angery at ppl who walk down the street because I cant do that without pain I am still kinda young(38) and just as I know many of you want a normal life.. Not only that but I now have issues with my liver due to all the meds. Sorry for the rant but I just needed to get that out. Thank you and God bless all of you! RE: Update on my 360 lumbar fusion
i wouldnt get worried just yet my dr told me that the healing process can take months even years..i know the first month after my fusion i thought they messed up bc i was in so much pain than before surgery but as time passed it eased up..hopefully yours will do the same and a year from now we will all be talking about how great you are doing..take care

RE: Update on my 360 lumbar fusion
why do you think you'd be better off by having had the surgery right away?

Because the reason we had to do the 360 vs just the postior was there was more damage due to my left leg giving out and me falling and instead of a one lvl they ended up doing a 2 lvl. I may be wrong but had they done the surgery when it was suggested after all other options had failed I would only have the 3 incisions on my back to deal with and not a large one on my belly as well. RE: Update on my 360 lumbar fusion
grumpyone, I to am only a 40 year old and back in 2007 I was in a headon collision with a hwy snowplow truck.. I have harware from hell in my hip and pelvis 40 pluss screws and lots of plates... So I know what you are saying about seeing others without pain.. And I hope what inpainokla says is true, and as time goes by your pain lessens..
With my abnormal gait and other issues with my neck and lumbar, I am also looking at some surgeries in the future... I am skeptical for alot of the people I have talked to say that some times you will still have the pain and maybe more.... Stay strong in believing it will get better, and It took me along time to get used to the fact of all the things I used to do and now I cant... But as a member said to me think of what you can still do and not what you cant.. It's hard for anyone to face the facts, some move forward and some get help.... I wish you the best of luck and I will pray for you that your pain eases and you get back to some what of a normal life......Bronco |

RE: Update on my 360 lumbar fusion
Thank You all I know at one point I will be a bit better it's just so hard going from an energized mother of 3 teenage boys and wife who did everything for everybody while working 40+ hrs a week to this frail lil person who has to ask for help washing her hair, getting her socks on, shaveing her legs ect... But hey as I have said before it is what it is and nothing I can do about it now except hope for the best someday I will be the one walking down the street and I wont be in that much pain!

inpainokla Wrote:wow i knew you had alot of plates and screws bronco..but sure didnt know you had 40 screws thats astonashing to think someone could walk with all that goin on The thing is if you saw me you wouldnt know it, Well unless i was in a bikini (not happening, I was fired at chip&dales when Chriss farley one the contest...) but really you would see the scars, my abdomin was cut just above the hip all across to the other hip.. and from that incission up to my rib cage and one from my left hip up to about my waist line.. I shattered my left side pelvis 12 breaks and brole clean of from the si joint and shattered my hip socket, and upper and lower pubic bones, 12 broken ribs, punctured lung,( second one collapsed on the way to hospital), 2 scars on my head right scar is 3 inches and left scar goes from middle of my forehead and goes straight back behind my ear. I have had three surgeries reconstructing my hip and pelvis and after that had one more emergency surgery when I was given to much heprin (almost didnt make it through that one) I flatlined on the first 2 and the last surgury... I tried to get to heaven but GOD said not yet...lol.. I have been through hell and back, 8 injections to my spine, soon to do rfa and if that fails surgery again... and am back in pt for the third time, and forgot to mention my pelvis reconstruction left my left leg 2 in shorter (special orthodics)... If WC had to pay for pain in suffering, I would be set for life....lol |
