Firefighter Hurt on Duty
Im new to this so here it goes. I have a friend who is a fellow firefighter working on a DOD contract in Curacao for the USAF. I am not sure what the laws are concerning americans citizens working for american based companies overseas. I worked for a company a few years ago who took great care of me when i hurt my neck but the company i work for now ITT Systems Division is really hanging my friend out to dry right now. Any help with this would be appreciated. Kevin

RE: Firefighter Hurt on Duty
your friend is likely covered under the Defense Base Act administered by the Department of Labor. to file a claim:

RE: Firefighter Hurt on Duty
Friend of mine, ex marine Sgt, was a private security contractor for a Halliburton subsidiary in Iraq for 11 months of don't ask private army work and was in a Humvee on the way to the Bahgdad airport to rotate home when the enthusiastic driver too a tall antiterrorist barrier road thing waay to fast, the personnel went flying up into the air in full 35 lb gear and crunched his disk when he landed back down on the metal seat. Figuring out who was responsible and in what state took the better part of a year just to be able to file a claim for his foot drop. Which they fought of course. Best of luck to your friend.
