My dad, the song he used to sing to me

My dad when I was little had a song just for me
"My special angel", I sat by his side holding his hand a little while ago. He opened is eyes, he asked me if I remembered 'our' song. I was the only one out of 7 kids that he had a song for. I guess he used to sing for me because I wasn't suppose to live, born 2 months early. But I did. Then to my surprise he started very weakly singing our song, I joined in with him. Then I kissed him good night, when I turned around 6 nurses were in the doorway crying. He last sang me that song on my wedding day.

You were sent as a gift from God up above
At a time when I needed you most
God saw my need and answered my prayer
With a Special Angel to hold close.

As a baby you were my confidant
When I whispered emotions from within my soul
And as you gently laid within my arms
You gave me peace as you quietly consoled.

Over your growing up years you developed a gift
Of perception and enlightenment
You could look in my eyes and see into my heart
And know it's emotional content.

You were my strength when I was weak
My perception when confused
My happiness when sad
And my healing when my heart
had been bruised.

You were the calm in the storm
The joy in the stress
The laughter in the tears
And the cheer in all the unhappiness.

I thank God for you and all that you are
A "Special Angel" sent from God above
So on your birthday this year I'm sending
This special note to you with all my love.
