I could use a rich uncle about now. There is snow on the ground not much but under that snow is ice then it snowed its to cold and dangerous for me to go out in. I slipped and fell again on ice last week and am very tired of it. I want to move to someplace warm and cheap to live. I dont want to sell my farm to buy somewhere else if nothing else this farm can feed us. I dont have large animals anymore just chickens but they give me both eggs and meat and except in the winter feed themselves on bugs and such. Altho I am finding it harder and harder to kill them for meat its just to much work. My best friends husband has cows and we can buy one to take to butcher much easier than feeding and taking care of one right now. I dont know about you all but beef here is so expensive you almost have to take out a bank loan to get much at the market so buying a half is better. Sorry just rambling

overall the economy is not too bad; but of course there are places that still have not seen much improvement over the past 10 years-- since the melt down.
weather seems more unpredictable then ever. our high tech satellites and computer models may give a little more warning for the worst of it but we can't change it.
Many older Americans have switched to "houseless" lives. they ditch the mortgage and all the fixed bills that drain their meager funds and make due with a small comfortable RV.
They can move around until they find a place they like. some pick up temporary or part-time jobs to supplement their needs. it's not the life style their parents had or the one they started out with but it fits what they need now.

I don't like cold either, We had a small family farm same as you if nothing else it can feed us. We are also down to just chickens and a couple of pigs. We have bought the RV and we love it,but at this time we don't want to sell because we just don't know what is going to happen. We had a member on here 4 years ago that told me about a site where we could buy land and they carried the mortgage we bought 2 lots in Santa Rosa beach for 6000 dollars now these 2 lots are small as all get out but our RV fits nicely. We live in Oklahoma and didn't have a winter last year or a summer this year temps are unstable but as long as we don't get snow and ice I am ok

We're still here on our 9 acres, but it's getting harder to take care of
The 20 acres we bought in Nc before the accedent is still there, but all grown up now. only in a dream could I build that now.

I think the travel the country in our RV or travel trailer is a briliant idea, and when spring gets here, I think I will start to visit some places.

Look out 1171, and Jayne. You 2 are on my list of people to see!

( maybe not both at the same time tho......)

Dusty you will be made welcome. go to USDA foresty and check for help wanted for camp host you don't get paid but you don't have to pay for your slot either. all we required to do was answer questions about what park we were at we spent a year there after my Daddy and sister died. I needed quiet to get my self in tune again
