B12 shots
Anyone here take B12 shots? I finally gave in and started mine yesterday. I was nervous about the whole giving myself a shot and worried about the expense. Turns out it didn't hurt and they are not expensive. The blood work it what cost. If it helps the headaches and fatigue it will be worth it!

I don't but I have several family members who do. Certain auto-immune disease, absorption problems or people with anemia should take B-12 shots. Yep, cheap and they don't hurt, same syringe as used for insulin, tiny needle.
If the headaches are related to your B-12 deficiency then it should help, for the fatigue it definitely will.

RE: B12 shots
I have all the above but the cause being celiac disease. I have to say it didn't help. Hopefully this is just the dr's starting point. He drew blood to get levels. When i go back in a month we'll see how much it has come up. I think i will need shots increased and then monthly should be fine.

RE: B12 shots
I wonder why my dr's have never mentioned this... Even if I benifited a little it could be worth it.. Would these mess with my thyroid med, I am always tired but my throid test are always normal. The morphine makes me even more tired and then add the gabapentin I feel like a zombie most days.....

Bronco with all of your infections it wouldn't hurt to see if you're low on B-12.

As for your thyroid, the labs (TSH) might be normal but have you ever asked your doctor about doing a total thyroid panel including antibodies? An initial thyroid check needs to be a total thyroid panel with the antibodies, then occasionally check the thyroid again. Doctors miss this over and over again, my daughter's sister-in-law found this out just last month. Her TSH falls within the high normal range but her thyroid antibodies were ski-high. She has hashimoto's thyroiditis. Just something to consider.

So you're already on a thyroid hormone. Any ideas what your levels are? TSH, T3, T4? Even if your levels are 'normal' it may not be what your body needs. I take alot of thyroid hormone, I keep my TSH on the low side of normal, it's where I can cope, otherwise I drag.

Sometimes Bronco labs don't mean a thing if you feel like crap. I dragged for years on synthroid until I took control, found a doctor of osteopathy who was willing to change my meds to armour and then I insisted that my numbers stay low. I'm not changing, they can't make me. An endocrinologist would have a fit if they saw my labs, but they're still within normal levels. I'm perfectly healthy, of a normal weight, very active.

Get copies of your labs and let me know what they say.

RE: B12 shots
BB if i get copies of my labs could you give me your opinion? It took 6 yrs and many drs before I was finally diagnosed CORRECTLY. It was a Dr finally drawing blood who saw i had pernicious anemia who was able to tell me I have celiac disease. That was 2 yrs ago and then my husband got hurt. I put everything off for too long as usual. I started this thread the day after i took my first shot and had a massive headache. It finally went away and i haven't had one for 2 days. Energy still is low but I'm sure that will take more than one shot. Once the Dr has results Im hoping he increases them till levels come up.

Bronco they also have pills. I can't take them because my body doesn't absorb it. I'd much rather take the pill. Lol

Ammowoman message me your labs and I'll give you my opinion. B-12 is a Godsend for alot of people but many doctors have gotten away from prescribing it. It's like the more natural thyroid hormone, hard to get a regular doctor to prescribe it. That's why I only see DO's.
