Saddened for the loss of participation on the off topic areas
Hi All,
It's not the lack of response to any of my posts that makes me post this. It's the overall downward spiral of those responding as a whole. Sure we all have our work comp stories, our own horror soap operas that never seem to end beyond our own grief. But where are those who have lives beyond work comp? C'mon, life is way, way beyond work comp. We all have our horror stores, mine the doctor who did the stupid surgery and ignored the infection. To those (similar to mine) that waited months if not years for surgery or any medical help. But life goes on....it saddens me to see so little posting here. Life is beyond work comp. Sure I have this crappy eye problem that makes me swear. But what about our kids, our grandkids, gardens, car problems, life in general? For me a failed eye surgery, father doing reasonably well, bad garden last year, still waiting for anything this year. Bought a new car for our oldest just yesterday (he will make the payments). But what beyond this? Where is everyone? I thought that last months contest would drive some new posts to no avail. I sucked at the game but that's okay. C'mon, bring out the garbage, anything. Bring some life into this forum. Please? Bodybuilder1958 |

RE: Saddened for the loss of participation on the off topic areas
BB,
I am trying to stay caught up with the forum, but for the moment, typing is very hard for me due to the surgery a week ago. I am having some complications with my left arm, so staying off of the computer a little more than usual. Doesn't help that I was forced into driving within 2 days of the surgery, which is fun within itself. Thought that with Randy being out of school for the summer, I might get a little more help around here, but was only fooling myself. Even with sleeping pills, I am only averaging 4 hours sleep per night even going to bed at 8 PM, which is quite out of the ordinary for me. Hope everyone is enjoying their summer so far. I am looking forward to Monday and getting the stitches out... even though it means me driving myself over 150 miles round trip to do so. Angel ^j^ I've always been crazy, but it keeps me from going insane. ************ Happiness comes through doors you didn't even know you left open |

Take care Angel and do not over do it!
I can not imagine driving two days after surgery! This is a surgery doctors tell me is in my surgery but I will delay it as long as I can. |

RE: Saddened for the loss of participation on the off topic areas
So far this summer has been painfull as well as stressfull.. My sons graduation party is the 1st and on the 2nd he is off to Montana.. While I am a bit depressed I am also proud and happy for him to want a better life then whats here.. His best friend went there almost 2 months ago to futher his education and got a job preparing pizzas that pays $14.oo per hour.. That same job in our town pays $7.75, so going to colledge and making $14 part time will give them enough money to get through....
My mom has been in and out of the hospital constantly, she has now lost her voice and the drs think she has throat cancer.. She is having a biopsy the first week in july to confirm. But 1 good thing is her lung capacity has gone up from 33% to 50%, but has still been hospitalized due to not being able to exhale.. With all of the above going on I have adjusted to the new pain med (morphine).. The constipation was a btch but have learned to watch what I eat and take an extra dose of miralax. The side effects is way less than the percocets, but there are new ones to add to it.. Makes me very tired, loss of appetite and get grouchy easyier... Overall my pain is much less except right hip and low right stabbing.. Dominick is a handfull lately, we have 2 couches in the livingroom and he was able to get up on the smaller one and he always has sat there and watched his mickey mouse clubhouse shows.. He has now figured it out if he puts his leg up he can get on the big couch, coffee tables, chairs etc... He thinks he is hercules and plays us trying to figure out our buttons.........lol... His weight and hieght has always ran in the 50% range but his last appointment his hieght went up to 70% and is getting very wide shouldered... I think this one is taking after dad.lol... He has his first potty chair and so far he just wants to stand in it.. Some people say were nuts to try so early, but we had our first using it at 1 1/2 years old with help... Just have to make it fun to use.... Now that I have bored you all to death....lol.... thats what my life has given me this summer... |

RE: Saddened for the loss of participation on the off topic areas
I'm not sure if I've ever posted details really about our home life really. We are pretty boring people. Lol. Guess I'll give it a shot....
I've just been working. The plant shuts down every yr for a week over 4th of July so in a week I'll be on vacation. I'll need it to catch up on work around here. Hubby's been busy with the pets. Right now there are 6 here. Our dog had puppies last September and the ones not placed with family i asked to be returned if if didn't work out. We paid for shots, getting them fixed, microchips and everything else and didn't charge for them. We just wanted them returned. Left microchips in our name so wouldn't just pass them along. I work with her so I would find out. So with our 4, my daughters dog and our new fella we have 6! 3 of which are puppies and litter mates. Youngest daughter moved back home a couple months ago. She's moving to South Dakota Monday. Just for a couple months. I have to admit it was nice having the twins both at home. Oldest daughter got engaged this week. Don't think the guy is good enough but what can you do. If 2 tomato plants count as a garden....then we got us a garden. I planted them and he waters them. He also is in charge of getting our son to work and picking him up since he totaled his car. We really are boring. |

RE: Saddened for the loss of participation on the off topic areas
May seem boring to some, but heck this is our lifes and how we must cope to get through... A single purpose or just to feel needed and to be loved and to love another, laughter is what makes my days go by.. Without dominick in my life I would probably be a junky and stay to myself.. Sometimes I would like to shoot my adopted boys (( bronco and buster )) but then my wife would shoot me and where would that get me... Bronco is Dom's buddy but sometimes playing with dom he knocks him over.... When we got bronco it was the first time I heard of microchipping pets, it is now a condition when adopting pets here.......

RE: Saddened for the loss of participation on the off topic areas
I like a Positive Attitude on Life. I rarely talk about my Injury and my past and present woes because I feel this is not good. I never discuss my problems with my family besides my wife and kids; I deal with it because it can cause you to mentally shutdown. My wife is my right arm and she knows when my day is bad; She always brightens my day just to see her walk thru the door after work.
It is easy to start a conversation in the off topic area and then out of Habit start talking about the issues dealing with your worked related injury; It becomes a Habit. I know I will be Heckled for this but we all have to deal with our disabilities and move on with the real world and Life. Life is good; It could be 10X worse. I could write a book about my past and present problems but I have to stay positive about life. My Wife needs me; My Children need me and my Grand Babies need Papa. |

Lucky dealing with our emotions per our work comp injury is vital, nothing to be heckled about.
This forum has helped me keep my sanity in the daily struggles of coping with work comp. Only an injured worker who has walked in "our" shoes knows the struggles injured workers face daily. |

RE: Saddened for the loss of participation on the off topic areas
I must say the first few years I had a positive aditude.. I kept believing it was a tempoary set back and we would over come.. After being off work for a year and returning it was a big step forward financialy and mentaly.. Wc was paying for all my medical needs and I felt whole again. But after 1 1/2 years I reinjured my self then everything went down hill slowly.. We have hit rock bottom, all our savings was piddled out over the first injury, was able to catch up once I returned to work and had a bit ahead when I reinjured my back. Once mmi everything stopped, we went right back in the hole.. We have been in and out of forclosure 3 times and had to stoop down and borrow from the inlaws.. My injury lawyer has been helping us out with the banks lawyers, begging to hold off because he figures by the end of the year I will be settled........
I have a positive aditude with my family, other than that there is to much negative out there to be happy....It just amazes me on how valuble you are dead compared to being in pain, cant work... I was worth 250,000 if I would have died while working, I am now worth what.............//? |

It took almost 9 years to settle but financially I was not in a bind because my wife has a good job plus I never missed a check from WC. They stopped my weekly checks Jan. 2012 and I received my Indemnity last of Feb 2012. I was found PTD by a WC hoe Doctor and this big time worked in my favor. My Attorney said my overall settlement was the biggest he has ever handled which made him smile. Money cannot replace what I have physically lost. Being in Debt is extremely stressful; I know this because I was as poor as dirt as a kid; We had food because we had a small farm but financially we were always in debt, could not pay our bills; My parents went bankrupt; It was hard. I was made fun of in school and it was embarrassing. I was determined my kids would not go thru this and they did not. God was good to me; I had a good Union wage paying Job and it was good to me and the family. Finances will destroy anyone and make them settle prematurely. It is hard to convince a IW not to settle when they are almost living in a ditch and them slimy beepers are holding money over your head. I was able to wait them out; I know I am blessed |
