My Recovery after laser surgery
As promise I will post my recovery from laser surgery. I had my surgery yesterday 6/18/2012.

Day of Surgery: Arrived at 6:30 am. Surgery started around 7:30-8:00 I was home around 1:30PM. Althought I was in some pain I was able to walk on my own with the aid of a cane. Had problems getting in & out of bed.

Day 1 after: Getting around better with cane and able to walk short distance without cane. Able bathe myself in shower althought I still can't bend lower enough to wash feet or leg.

Well first off i have an 8" scar parallel to my bellybutton on left side, i was told 5" scar below pants line, so that sucks. Except for the first week its only a little more painful than before the surgery(i guess I'm really used to pain now). I haven't taken any of the morphine pills they gave me, don't want to go down that road yet, just stayed with the percocet(i know its almost the same but not as strong). The one thing that worries me is the last week or so when i sit for only 15 minutes its getting harder and harder everytime to straighten my back when i stand up. Its now taking about a full minute maybe more to fully stand up. That might not sound long but when going through the pain to straighten it, it seems like forever. I can only hope this is normal, i don't see the doc untill july 12, and I'm kinda scared to even look to see if its normal. How's your pain doing, did it help any yet?

Jayc I know what you are talking about when it take you time to stand. I did go thru this. The first 2 days after surgery it was the worst. This morning (7/29/12) almost 2 weeks after surgery was the first time I got up with almost no pain. My left leg from the knee down still is sensetive to touch & a slight numness to it. The doctor told me that that was normal. I will be starting PT this Monday.

Hope u get better soon.

RE: My Recovery after laser surgery
pain is expected after surgery but this is a different pain which is getting worse everyday and it didnt start untill 1 1/2 weeks after the surgery thats why it worries me. if it was from the beginning or staying the same i wouldnt care but thats not the case. its excellent to hear how well your surgery is going, good luck with PT
