what is mediation hearing?

ive got injured early last year at work, i had surgery a few months later to repair labrum tear after 3 months PT i was still in pain my the doctor who did surgery basically told me i was full of it so next day i got lawyer i went to the doctor he sent me to and he did surgery to repair bicip tear in same arm i have been recieving checks from WC since injury after that surgery 3 months ago i am still in pain. a month ago i went to fill prescription and WC denied paying and i did not recieve check that week, so my lawyer filed a petition that i did not have to attend, now i have a mandatory mediation i have to attend next month, i want to know what it is and what i should expect. this has been stressful for me...thank you
