Bad Boy and Jayne, I see Your Points by Reading Each Post Thoroughly, not just by skimming Over Them! 1171, Some of Your Points on Health Care are Valid in My Mind also, I think this Thread is going the Wrong Way is because People are Confusing Statements Made against Those that Abuse the System, as Opposed to Those that Need the System. I don't Think a Soul on Here would Deny a Sick Person, or a Layed-Off Person with a Family Food Stamps and Health Care for a Short Period of Time. There are Housing Projects in all 4 Directions from My Home (Within 25 Miles), and I Live in the Country, that is for the Low Income Folks. What I See is what Bad Boy and Jayne See, Drug Dealers Driving Hummers and BMW's, Collecting Food Stamps and Welfare Money, and the Investigators that can Stop this Abuse are Afraid for Their Lives to Stop these Benefits from the Abusers, and Tell Them They have to Move!! Jayne, I didn't See any Hatred in Your Post, 1171 Clearly Stepped over the Line, and I think, even though it May Never Happen, You Deserve an Apology! And Frito, No One is Calling You an Abuser because You Need what You are Receiving, I Receive w/c and SSDI also, Fortunately My Children are Grown, and I Feel for Those with Young Families in Need!

Well like i said not everyone with food stamps and gold bracelets are abusers.so to say u see people and judge not fare.And remember not only the poor people abuse the system.I guess people who have stock in wepons are making big money. while mommy's on food stamps becaus hubbys dying on on onnnnnnnnnn think who abuses the system everyone don"t B A races that's what it sounds like to me just venting.

I think this has not all gone bad, it just relates to what others have seen and thinks... I'm not one that thinks bad of people getting help when truley needed.. But dont get confused, here in WI there is some tribal members that the reservations share thier casino funds with thier own kind.. They do drive the fancy suv's and have a crap load of kids. That dont make them abusers that makes our GOV responsable.. Now to the view point that some have, I have seen the same thing and when your from a little town you get to know who are the abusers.. I dont mean the ones with free medical, but the ones that keep popping out children for more money... And then you see thier mommies and daddys out drinking the free money up and the kids not getting the support they need.. Those to me are the ones that abuse.. I have been in the free ins system and did qualify for food-stamps but I rejected them for thats all I needed help with was ins for medical...
I think the system just makes it to easy for some people and they make it a way of life.. I have to buy my meds except for my wc scripts and between my son and I with asthma I spend about 750 a month just to have meds to treat asthma... But when a person that does not work and are able to gets the meds for free, to me thats abuse.... So really thier is 2 sides to this as I can see everybodys points granted by my book.... But I truley think 1171 took this way out from what was a simple out look that truley every body has probably seen.. And I do believe she owes Jayne and the the rest of the readers an apology......

I'm not sure if you know this but there are strict time limits on how long someone can be on welfare. WIC is set up differently than welfare. This has been the case since President Clinton and Congress overhauled the system in the 90's. What's happening now is that many people who are in desperate straits cannot get on welfare because their lifetime limit has been surpassed.

A lot of people on here have had to use the social safety net to survive. As 1171 said you or I do not know what the circumstance these people have encountered. Many people think of anyone on WC as slackers and deadbeats. Having been in the system for 7 yrs has changed my outlook. Has it made me more compassionate for others- yes it has. I hope it has does to others also.

If we look around us everyday we can find people who abuse the system. Look at what the banks and wall street have done to our country. We judge the poverty stricken person who pays for their groceries with a food stamp card but we are on the hook for trillions of dollars because of corporate welfare and the outrage is muted. I guess the person who takes us for a few thousand per year is much more evil than the corporate thieves who take us for trillions and still take home hundreds of millions per year.

I agree with you Jayne. it is horrible when people need food and someone is getting it for free and throwing it away.
And yes when people fake their w/c problems or lie on an application for food stamps it is a problem. It makes it more difficult for the people who really do need it.
And I don't care what anyone says if someone goes in the grocery store and buys a bunch of junk food with food stamps and then goes out and gets into a new hummer then there is a big problem there.
Sell the darn hummer and use the 600 a month payment to buy food. Use the left over change to take the bus.

We had said those that abuse a system makes it hard for those that need a system
