Fall fashion and the injured worker
I've been checking out the fall fashions.
I do love the fall colors, the browns, oranges, beige, and reds. It is the syles I have problems with. I am a blue jeans girl, and it has gotten cooler but I am still wearing my capris. With the knee replacement the left knee and entire leg is a lot larger then the right leg. I do have trouble finding blue jeans that fit the left leg, most I can't get over the knee or they are so tight they restrict movement and anything tight on that knee hurts. I know others on this forum have had to change the style of clothing they wear due to their injuries. I am still trying to find a solution to my fashion problems. I welcome any stories you have to share. Bummer Knees |

RE: Fall fashion and the injured worker
Bummer I find scrubs fit the bill for everyday wear.....and jumpers with a nice blouse for sunday...both are easy on and off no buttons or zippers.....I also love fall colors and long sweaters
;)Workmans comp is not a road you want to travel alone. You need a good lawyer,a great family and good friends to lean on.If you make it thru without losing everything you have worked for all your life, you have come out ahead of the game.....

I also wear the jumpers, they are easy to wear with the neck injury and carpal tunnel. No buttons or zippers.
I am not ready to giveup on the blue jeans yet and am looking for a solution. The nonprofit I chair has a Lending Libray Program and I remember a book in ithe library, Adaptive Dressing Solutions, I may need to check-put this book. |

Pull Over Shirts and Sweaters for Me, along with Sweat and Ski Pants, No Zippers or Buttons, and Elastic Bands on the Pants are Much Better than Regular Pants for Me! I can't Wear Blue Jeans anymore, the Waist Band Aggravates My Back, and Wearing a Belt and Dockers to a Hearing Leaves Me Rushing to get Home and get Them Off!! My Lower Back is that Sensitive, and the Clothes I Mentioned above have Worked the Best for Me!!

RE: Fall fashion and the injured worker
I went for almost a year just wearing sweats, and loose flannel pants with no zippers. I found it hard to wear anything snug around my incisions from being cut hip to hip and from lower but to the L4 area and from left hip up to almost my chest it was missery.. I am now slowly trying to break the comfort zone, I baught a few pair of stretch pants that button and zip.. Still hurts the scar tissue but being a sales rep representing the company, I felt it was time to try...........

RE: Fall fashion and the injured worker
Good luck bummer< After almost 50 years of wearing scrubs, You couldnt get me into another set, and the scrub pants would be no different than wearing jeans, and they are to light weight material for cold weather. They are still pants.... Have you thought of buying sweat pants or something like that for everyday winter wear? or how about loose or wide leg jeans, some are made different, all depends on the company. I have several pair with wide legs, bought them at Kohl's and Walmart.

RE: Fall fashion and the injured worker
I did find a pair of ankle length blue capris last week, I am short in height so they almost look like jeans but are loose in the legs.
Going to go shopping agin today and try and find a 2nd pair. I do need to talk to the doctor about the size difference in the legs. The right leg is a lot smaller then the left. |

RE: Fall fashion and the injured worker
bummer... I run in to this issue when I have to wear my leg braces. However, I have not worn them for more than 2 years now. I think a pair of nice fitting sweats may help you out a bit. Is the one side larger because it protects the other side so it is building its muscle while the other side has atrophied muscles groups... or is it due to swelling from along the surgery area etc.

RE: Fall fashion and the injured worker
Bummer, Last winter I was in a full walking brace/boot and working at a high school, so I had to look somewhat decent. I still wore my capris, which are long because I am short. For tops, I would dress in layers. A plain colored tank or t-shirt with a dressier fall colored blouse over it. I had fun matching knee high socks to my tops and was always color coordinated with my socks and tops. Some said I fit right in with the kids.
I had a long coat for when I had to be outside, but for the most part, I was indoors and never felt too cold, and was comfortable in my clothing. I always had to carry an extra t-shirt for the days when my sweating was really bad. My system is so screwed up, I sweat more when it's cold, or I'm in an air conditioned room. And because at the time I was going to P/T 3x's per week, it was more practical to dress in capris. Loved it when I was finally able to get back into jeans.
Let Go, and Let God...... |

RE: Fall fashion and the injured worker
Hi Red
I do like to wear wind suits but it has to be cooler to wear them. I also have an ankle and knee brace I wear on the right leg. I can wear them with the capris with no problem. Guess I will have to be creative when selecting clothes this year. The swelling has never gone done on the knee with the replacement. The surgeon asked me if the knee always "looked like this" at the 1 yr appointment. |
