RE: lay off
here either, course our main income here is the chicken plants..and feed mill and they cant get enough help...course it is hard cold work and mostly mexicans work there....whites think they are to good to do the chicken plant they may change their mind before it is all over......wal mart is always full the banks are putting commercials on TV saying they are stable and eager to lend....but 50 miles away in Ft Smith the papers are full of layoffs.....I dont see alot of forclosers in our local paper altho I imagine they are there as many in town worked in Ft smith.....again our housing market isnt as expensive as citys a nice house here and 50 acres with barns would go for about 150 to 200 thousand....much less than alot of people pay for a home in some citys.....

;)Workmans comp is not a road you want to travel alone. You need a good lawyer,a great family and good friends to lean on.If you make it thru without losing everything you have worked for all your life, you have come out ahead of the game.....Smile

RE: lay off
I'm so sorry Sparkey. This is happening everywhere.

California is no exception, and possibly even worse since the State is out of money and cutting back everywhere.

On Thursday I saw my job listed as one of the impending position reductions. This is a double whammy as my job was already cut when I was released back to work, so the "alternate" job is now going to be cut. And reading about it in the local newspaper! WHAMO!!!!!
Don't anyone tell me not to take this personally as I know it is intentional to get rid of me.

I take comfort in knowing that no matter what, I will not let WC win. God is in control! Tongue

BTW: Happy Anniversary to me! Today is my 20th anniversary with this employer.

Let Go, and Let God......

RE: lay off
Chris congrats on the 20th anniversary with your company. I worked for one for almost 15yrs. It is a wonderful feeling knowing how you can stay with one job that many years. Unfortunatly this job I am getting laid off I have only been with a year 1/2. I enjoyed it and made pretty darn good money per hour. ALmost twice the amount I made doing phlebotomy for 15yrs.

My boss extended my lay off date till March 2nd. One xtra day so that I could have insurance the whole month of March. My husband will then transfer it over to his name before the end. God forbid when he gets laid off as he is the one running this project and there is nothing lined up after the end of March when it finishes. I am thankful that it is a MA lay off compared to NH as Mass pays more for unemployment. I will get half my pay I was told. I saw my boss at a dinner party the other night that hired me and he said he is trying hard to find work and get me back soon. I am sure he will keep me with hubby on whatever project he gets next. It is just a very bad time right now for new projects. All I can do is sit tight and take care of myself and this will give me time to go to dr. appointments, therapy etc and still get some sort of income. Thank you all for your responses. Alot of our stores in the malls are empty too. You walk the mall and it is like a ghost town. I have never seen anything like it. Also we have circuit city, linen and things that have been closing down also due to no buisness.

carpal tunnel recurrence/ neuropathy / RSD.
1/29/07 injury date. Permanent. PIR settlement 8/4/08 10%
