RE: Stigma of being in the worker's comp system
An employer that would attempt to keep you socially isolated is beneath contempt Bummer. I should be documented if possible.
Any co-worker who would accept being told who to associate with is not worth your time anyway. |

RE: Stigma of being in the worker's comp system
Thanks LOC,
That is how I feel. After my surgery I could be forced to go back to work there. Although, I don't think it willl happen as my employer has said she will not work me if I have any restrictions. Course the requirements of my job are, lifting up to 100 lb, kneeling, bending, squating, stair climbing, and walking. I am having a total knee replacement and my restrictions will match up with the requirements of my job. |

RE: Stigma of being in the worker's comp system
I'd venture to say there are many many reasons why some react in a negative manner to those on TTD. Here are a few off the top of my head:
1) They don't understand the severity of the injury. 2) They have seen news magazine TV programs profiling WC fraud cases and suspect everyone of trying to milk the system. 3) If they were injured *they* would try to milk the system. 4) Many have no idea that IW's don't recieve their entire pay while on TTD and assume IWs stay on TTD to collect their normal salary while eating bon bons and watching Oprah. 5) Stupidity. |

RE: Stigma of being in the worker's comp system
lost my job did the same thing and I worked for a major charity......most jobs do the same thing
;)Workmans comp is not a road you want to travel alone. You need a good lawyer,a great family and good friends to lean on.If you make it thru without losing everything you have worked for all your life, you have come out ahead of the game.....

RE: Stigma of being in the worker's comp system
I really cannot believe how human's treat one another. I am sorry that you all have had to endure the rude comments/friends along the way in this worker's comp mess. It is a shame.
Thank God for this forum! |

RE: Stigma of being in the worker's comp system
It used to bother Me but I decided that I have My Own Life to lead and that other People that have a problem with the fact I am on W/C are not really worth the bother,Let them eat Themselves up with whatever it is that bothers Them and Live Your Own Life as You see fit.
