New to WC from PA

RE: New to WC from PA
I was unable to reach my attorney after I got the report. I went to the hospital and requested the report myself as the nurse at the doctors office just said "he will give you one copy at your next appointment" which isnt till the 27th. So I just went and got one myself.
I am not saying that I am going to take them to another doctor, I dont think I am able to do that, I would like to have them for myself though.
I do agree that there is something off here.

If Your attorney Requests a Second Opinion, which is Your Right in Pa., the Dr. May be Chosen by You, or if it has to be Petitioned Before the Judge, by the Judge. You are going to Need a Second Opinion, because as Things stand now, They have a Report that is going to do just as You said, send You Back to Work Way too Soon. Your Attorney should Confirm what I'm Telling You when You speak with Them. I have been through this Process already, and if You have a good Attorney, They will handle this for You and Ease Your Mind. Pa. w/c is a Very rough Road with Many Pitfalls, and Good Counsel is Worth Their Weight in Gold. Best of Luck.

I Wish Everyone in the World would Take just One Minute to Take a Deep Breath and Look at the Wonders around Them. Too Much Time caught Up in the Moment can Cause Us to Miss soo Much that is Good, and given Us Daily! We are just too Busy to See!

If you wont tell them they I told you, you will then have to pay for them. Their not going to contact anyone, they will just give you the films though. You wont be ask to prove anything neither.

OK Update -
So I spoke with my attorney regarding the differing reports and he stated that it is ok. He explained that right now I am still in the diagnosis stage and that I am going to have reports that say nothings wrong. The changes in report may come from the dates that the tests were completed. The CT was 10 days after accident and the MRI was 1 month after and 1 week after epidural. There may have been bulging discs showing due to the inflammation and swelling at the time of CT and there is decreased inflammation and swelling so the discs are not bulging enough to be picked up on the MRI with low (under 1) T magnet. I had open MRI which is very weak 0.7T and these are known for not picking up anything unless it severe.
He also said that my diagnosis by the dr. and IC is a severe sprain strain to lower lumbar region. If it had been herniated disc to L3-S1 like the CT found then that would give the IC something to argue and say "your diagnosed with herniated disc but MRI showed nothing now go back to work your fine" but since it is not then the cannot say anything to a negative diagnostic test.
Does this make sense ? Kinda does to me.
Oh and I received another check for the dates 4/28-5/12 so now I know when they should be sending them.
Work approved my FMLA so now my family and I are still covered with health insurance and I can have peace of mind knowing my job is secure. My union has been wonderful with that too. I feel as though I have a lot of people on my side willing to go to bat with me if need be. I feel as though I have every aspect covered and that this is not going to be as hard as I thought it would be .
Things look like they are going pretty smoothly. I have had some changes medically that are a lil confusing and worry me but I am sure we will get everything worked out. I am experiencing foot drop and tightness down my leg along with the pain now. Kinda feels like my circulations been but off. People I have talked to said sounds like maybe nerve issues or damage. So I will be looking into getting test run for that next...lol Wonder how long its going to take to get an actual diagnosis of problem. Waiting game.
Still going for epidural shot on tuesday and next follow up 5/27.
Things are looking up... Smile

RE: New to WC from PA
I would definitely get a copy of all films done on you since your injury. I was living in Pa. during my W/C experience. I requested a disc (CD) of every image before each test, and if not given to me afterwards, they informed me when I could get it. My Dr. copied one of the test onto a disc for me at one of my appnts. since I did'nt have that one for my records. I also received the written reports from my Dr. I have found this was easier to do, rather than wait until it was asked for and try to get a copy or even to have the facility send it to the person that requested it.

I am a female, and where I was having my imaging done was large and was used by most Drs. in my area. When I was viewing a disc of one of my MRIs on my computer, I found several images that were not mine, they were of a male (pelvis) and lower back in a standing position. I called the medical records department of the facility and they found that these were not my images (obviously), but ones of a person with the same last name.

It is very important to have your own copies, even if you don't know what you are looking at, your lawyer or another Dr. may find varying results or mistakes.

Wishing you well, and good luck with the W/C system.
Vickie

RE: New to WC from PA
I know that the hospital that I had my scans done at use computers to send the images to the dr if they request it. When you have a scan done if you are in ER they receive the results on the computer. The lady I spoke with from the radiology department said that if I wanted the images for myself they would cost $8 each image and never mentioned anything about a CD. I will def. be calling on Mon morning.

RE: New to WC from PA
you don't tell them therir for yourself. You say your being sent to a Doctor by the Insurance Carrier, and they want you to bring copies with you, to that doctor's office.

It always work for many I know.

Also tell them you need the reports to go with the films.

In ten minutes mostly you have them in your hand, and your on you way.

RE: New to WC from PA
I called for my films and I can pick up a CD on thursday !!
I am a bit scared though. She was asking alot of questions like who the dr was ans when my appointment was and what the address for the place, what hospital they are affiliated with ....... so while on phone I googled a place.
I told her I was not sure who the dr was that it was orthopedic spine specialty and that I dont know who they were affiliated with and gave her the address I found on google.
My issue is now, cant she like look all this information up and call this place and try to confirm if I have an appointment ? and if they dont confirm can she refuse me or get me in trouble ?
I dont like fibbin but I guess sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do I just hope I dont get busted for it.

You should be Fine, but try to Remember in the Future, Pa. w/c works on Credibility, so don't try and do too many of those Fibs, they can come Back and Bite You in the Rear! This One should be O.K., but everything is Documented, and You don't want to get Your self Twisted Up. I've always Said that My Attorney wants a Copy for Us to Take to the Hearing so He has a Copy and I'm Closer to the Hospital than He is. I never had a Problem, and Your attorney can cover Your Tracks if They do Call. They Probably won't, but it's Best to be safe and Honest, the Credible Party is the One that Usually Wins in this State!Wink
