I take Lyrica 50mg. 3 Times Daily and have had no Side Effects. I don't think the Dr. meant that the Lyrica will "Heal the Herniation, but Herniation's only Cause Major Problems when they Press on Your Nerves. So can a Bulge, or Scar Tissue if it is Pressing on any of the Nerves in or around Your Spine. My Herniation Crushed My S1 Nerve Root, and Scar Tissue Encapsulated the Root before it could Heal, so I am left with a Crushed S1 Nerve Root, and the Surgeons won't go back in, it's too Risky. I was so Determined to get that Repaired that I went to a Total of 9 (Both Ortho. and Neuro.) Surgeons, and they All said No. Be Very careful and Double Check ANYTHING that they Suggest for Your Lower Back, I wouldn't Wish the Life I have to Live on My Very Worst Enemy!! I Hope All Goes Well, and they can Correct Your Problem!!Wink

At one point in my treatment for RSD, I was on as much as 525 mgs a day (225 mgs x 2) and my pm was talking about taking it up to 600 mgs. On my next visit, I saw someone different in the practice. He sat and listened to all of my concerns, including the fact the I felt the only thing that the lyrica was doing for me was making me very sleepy. But even then, I couldn't sleep worth a hoot.

He took me off of the lyrica and put me on cymbalta. That is what was needed. My pain went from a daily 7-9 to a 5-7, depending upon how much I did during the day. I take 1 60 mg cymbalta at night before going to bed.

I think alot of my problem with the lyrica was the water retention as I mentioned my ankles were so swollen that it hurt to walk. I feel 100% better than I did when I was on them.
