New Update - Deb - 07-06-2008 11:10 PM

Hi everyone!

I've had one heck of a time over this past week. Tomorrow I am supposed to have a Benefits Review Hearing. Insurance Company doesn't see how my back injury can have anything to do with depression so they are denying responsibility even though the State Designated Doctor and my PCP have both already stated that it is all related. I'll let ya'll know how the hearing goes.

Tuesday I went to a job interview and on my way home I decided to stop and get some groceries and after the kids put up the groceries for me I decided to make a tuna casserole and salad for lunch. As I sat down to eat I got the most horrible heart burn I have ever had in my life. Some pain involved with it but nothing serious. That evening my daughter came over and I told her what was going on and she went and got me some Tums and that helped some. I slept off and on that night and when I got up the next morning I had to go to another appointment with DARS (disability and rehabilitative services). After the appointment I returned home and by that time I was really tired from not sleeping well the night before so I decided to lay down and take a little nap. When I woke up my husband was leaving on a trip to Mexico and I told him I think I will go to the doctor. I went to my PCP (which also happens to be my family doctor) and told him of my complaints and he did an EKG on me and said that there were some abnormalities in the EKG and I needed to go to Charlton Methodist and let them check me out.

So I went to Charlton and they hurried me on back and did another EKG on me and took some blood. The doc came back saying that he thought that I was having a heart attack at that very moment but he wanted to take a look at the tests and see what they said. Next thing I know they are telling me that I am going to get a helicopter ride to Dallas Methodist. Long story short I arrived ok at Dallas Methodist and the cat lab was all set up and ready for me. The doc found 2 arteries clogged one was 100% clogged the other was 80% so they opened the one that was 100% clogged first going up through my right leg and then sent me up to CCU. My husband had arrived in San Antonio and had to turn around and come back he was there when I woke up. The next morning they did the other artery from the left leg. I was released from the hospital Saturday afternoon and am doing ok. I have to go for a checkup in a couple of weeks and I have to see my PCP on the 9th.

I've had to stop taking most of my medications for my pain and start taking the meds that the doc gave me. I'm back in agony again now so I will probably be up there to see my doctor before the 9th. I am not allowed to drive for now. I wonder how all of this is going to affect my workmans comp since I cannot work until this doc releases me even though my PCP has released me to look for work.

Deb,

Like the rest have said. Boy you had a angel on your side. If it was not for the reason to get tested etc. they might not of ever known you had a blockage and it could of been alot worse.

God bless that you are okay. Do not let wc get to you right now, just relax and take things easy. Your health is all you should care about at this point.

Deb, prayer and angels coming your way. Do as your doctors say. Try not to worry about wc, just take care of your self, and get well.

Deb...wow what a scare that must have been, however, as the others have said, someone was watching and caring for you. It is nice to hear from our forum angel. We all miss you especially me. Love Red

Oh Deb, What a scare you had. Thank God all ended up well. Prayers are going up for you. Take care of yourself and TRY and I say TRY not to worry about WC. Whenever something happens with our personal health the first thing we worry about is how it will effect our claim. I worried that the IC would think I was OK and faking it to stay home longer and take care of my husband when he got sick. actually my lumbar and shoulder are much worse for lack of the right treatment. Sad what the system does to us.
