TIRED OF WAITING - jstadfrntpn - 05-03-2008 05:09 PM i WANT TO COMMEND ALL THE PEOPLE ON THIS SITE FOR THEIR PATIENCE, I AM SURE YOU ALL HAVE WAITED 10 TIMES AS LONG AS I HAVE, EACH, AND MOST OF YOU ARE STILL WAITING. IF YOU ARE NOT WAITING ON THE IC, YOU ARE WAITING ON THE DR. IN MY CASE I SPENT THE LAST 2 WEEKS WAITING ON THE IC, NOW I AM WAITING ON THE DR. JUST FOR AN APPT FOR AN MRI, SCARED OF WHAT ELSE THEY MAY FIND, KNOWING THEY WILL FIND SOMETHING BC OF THE PAIN I AM EXPERIENCING, THIS IS DEPRESSING AND FURTHER COMPLICATING MY LIFE. MY QUESTION IS THIS, HOW DO ASK THEM(DR) FOR SOME MEDS FOR DEPRESSION, SHOULD THEY EXPECT ME TO ASK FOR IT, SHOULD THEY CARE, I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO, WHILE I AM WAITING HOW MUCH $%^$ SHOULD I PUT UP WITH BEFORE I SAY SOMETHING? RE: TIRED OF WAITING - Still in Limbo - 05-03-2008 05:16 PM Even though You are dealing with a w/c Issue, I don't think it would be Out of Line to Speak with Your Family Dr. about Your Depression. They May be able to Help You quicker than the i/c May, and some of the Depression Meds. out there are inexpensive, or could also Possibly be on the Wal-Mart $4.00 List. If You do take this Avenue, be Sure to tell any of Your other Dr.'s the Meds. You are taking, so the can Document it for You. Then if You should end up in Litigation, You could always try and Add Your Depression to Your Case!! I Hope this Helps, and Have a Great Week-End!!
RE: TIRED OF WAITING - lfoster21 - 05-03-2008 11:53 PM I asked my surgeon if he could refer me to see a therapist so that I could get some medication. He was happy to write the referral. It was also approved by w/c. I also know that my pain management Dr. perscribes psyc. meds both for psychological issues as well as for pain. Both of my Drs. have told me that many pain patients need these meds. and it is a normal part of thier treatment plan for their patients. So, do worry about asking them for this...they are use to it and they prefer to help you with this vs. patients who refuse to admit that they may need some extra mental health help. Best of luck and keep us posted. RE: TIRED OF WAITING - Pooh - 05-04-2008 04:17 AM Still and lfoster are both correct. However, in most cases it is quicker to go through your personal doctor but then you also need to let the wc doctor know about the depression and anxiety your going through because of all the waiting. In my case telling them about my depression didn't help any but through my doctor I was able to get the help I needed. RE: TIRED OF WAITING - sparkey - 05-04-2008 07:25 AM That is one of the first meds that they put me on. I was put on Cymbalta for nerve problems and it is over 300.00 a month for that. It took a long time and the doctor harrassing them before they approved of them. Now my doctor will not take me off them. Depression is a part of every INJURY. Do not worry about asking for them. I am sure you should have no problem getting them from your doctor. Chronic pain pts. are almost always on these types of meds. Every injury effects your life and of course that is a cause for depression. This is very normal in a WC injury. Good luck. RE: TIRED OF WAITING - Bad Boy Bad Boy - 05-04-2008 08:09 AM Like others said I agree. Also find the time. to speak with the WC Doctor about your concerns with depression. They know depression goes along with pain, not working, and money concerns. Plus when depressed, you pain could very well increase. If speaking with that doctor doesn't help, then you must talk with your doctor. Obtain a report, and DX from either, and turn it in to your attorney, or adjuster. But please just get it taken care of, don't let depression run your life. RE: TIRED OF WAITING - lfoster21 - 05-04-2008 11:36 AM Hi jstadfrntpn, How are you doing today? I have been thinking about you, being that this is new to you...I know the frustration that goes with the pain and the loss of freedom to do whatever it is you like to do. If you feel like you need to talk or vent, feel free to post again. You are in my prayers. RE: TIRED OF WAITING - jayne - 05-04-2008 07:43 PM the waiting has just begun............... Thank you for your reply to my post, i am trying to figure out exactly what to do, please tell me what a DX is, thanks again! RE: TIRED OF WAITING - Lilly - 05-05-2008 09:37 AM Hi there. a DX = diagnosis Here's the Walmart $4 drug list link http://www.walmart.com/catalog/catalog.gsp?adid=1500000000000003091180&cat=546834&dest=120741 It is not at all uncommon to ask for depression meds. Simply ask your doctor for help, and be prepared to answer a few questions from your doctor about your symptoms..like: crying jags, bad thoughts, can't sleep etc. Depression and pain go together. Also tell him that you want the cheapest script you can get, or one on the $4 walmart list, if you are going to have to pay for it yourself for a while. Save ALL your pharmacy receipts....as once depression is dx'd as a side effect to your injury/Wc turmoil & WC accepts paying for the drug...you can get reimbursed. Good luck & hang in there. Lilly
