update - mel1980 - 10-17-2007 05:06 PM well as all of you know i had my emg/ncv test today and it hurt like hell!!! But its not carpal tunnel the nuro def said i have nerve damage in my neck....so i dont know what is the next step just know i am hurting very badly right now RE: update - jayne - 10-17-2007 05:57 PM wow you got results already....the doc that done mine refused to give any until she studied them then would release results only to my PCP.....well if its just a bludge then its off to PT for you......and if that dont help maybe a discogram RE: update - mel1980 - 10-17-2007 05:58 PM well they already have me in pt but what else will they do for me for the pain i am having everyday i cant live like this forever..and this has been going on for some time now about 4 months... RE: update - jayne - 10-17-2007 06:48 PM most likley nothing till they get something telling them why you are in pain...if I were you I would ask for a discogram pronto...that will tell you more.....but right now heat and ice is all they will most likely do RE: update - mel1980 - 10-17-2007 07:26 PM well isnt nerve damage enough to tell them along with bulging discs and muscle spams RE: update - sparkey - 10-17-2007 07:32 PM It all depends on the doctor who does the EMG if he can type it up right away to send you with a copy to your doctor with the results. Mine sent me straight to the doctors with a copy. I had been on Vicodin and prednisone since day one and now even stronger meds to control the pain. I would check into cymbalta for nerve/depression so you do not get into chronic pain. If you get sent to a Pain management doc they may put you on something to make you comfortable till they can fix it with therapy etc. I wish you luck. RE: update - mel1980 - 10-17-2007 07:41 PM sparkey thank you...The neuro said she will fax over the report today so i guess that is good...I am calling my dr first thing in the mornign and telling her something needs to be done i cant go on like this naproxen isnt working and hasent worked for me....She gave me 5 pain pills when i saw her on monday they are gone ..she says take one at bedtime for severe pain im in pain all day so i gues all day i suffer and then i should only take it at night no way...If she send me to a specilist will they give me something for the pain? RE: update - jayne - 10-17-2007 08:24 PM girl you are not ever gonna earn that tuff girl buckle for your belt...... RE: update - mel1980 - 10-17-2007 08:33 PM LOL i know jayne i am a wimp im sorry i cant help i have never been good at dealing with pain i just cant do it..But i am now motivated to get on track... RE: update - lfoster21 - 10-17-2007 10:40 PM I know that when my pain continued longer than my surgeon was used to, he did send me to a pain management center and they agreed to take over my meds. while trying to find out what was causing the pain. If you do get a referral for a pain management, do your research and make sure your not going to one that is what some call a injection mill (all they do is injections and meds.) There are some really good centers that try numerous different therapies until they find what works best for you. (I think most will perscribe meds. while they figure out what works best, but there are some that will just keep you on meds and really don't try to find the cause and cure.) Good luck and I will keep you in my prayers. |
