GOP polital debates - AQA - 11-23-2011 03:00 AM
Without ruffling anyones feathers. Can anyone tell me whats been going on.
The debates are on tv (here) on Tuesday evenings and I am in class then. Which means that I miss them. I only get to here the mishaps and nothing else. meaning; nothing with any substance.
Can anyone fill me in with the candidates positions on any issues???

Sorry, I haven't really been watching. This years crop of potential candidates has left me unexcited, however, come election day I would crawl across shards of broken glass to vote for any of them.
My least favs would be 1) Huntsman, 2) your gov, Perry 3) Bachmann
I really do like Cain, although his knowledge of foreign issues is a concern. I have always thought Newt was a brilliant guy, and he has shone in the debates, but he is almost too smart to be president. He can shoot himself in the foot pretty easily, and will be a lightning rod for the main stream media.
I think Romney will end up the nominee, as he has the organization to turn out the votes. He is a competent businessman, and surrounded by the right people, could be an effective president. IMHO.

they all agree that if people stop spending-especially the government, businesses will sell more and the economy will improve.
I don't understand it.
and European leaders agree.
......even more perplexing.

I do have to disagree slightly, 1171. I do not believe any of them have weighed in with opinions on personal expenditures. They do, however, all agree that the government needs to stop spending so freely. And European leaders agree with them because they are a forebear of what we face. Crushing national debt and few means of escape.....
If it helps, check out the Congressional Budget Office report out this last week, which has determined that the over utilization of government spending (specifically stimulus) is actually hurting our economy. http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2011/nov/22/cbo-stimulus-hurts-economy-long-run/

I require practical proof.
so far the austerity measures Europe advocates are not working and I can't see them working any better for us.
If I'm wrong and strict austerity and deficit reduction works to revive European economies then I could be persuaded to re-think and support it here in the US.
But if I'm correct and European countries continue to crash by following the crazy spending strangulation policies then the US's continued support of deficit reduction will soon drag us down as well.
we need both government and business spending.
Higher wages and benefits from employers would go a long way to jump start a recovery.
if they keep staving us "Krill" then those "bankster" whales and conglomerates at the top of the food chain are dooming themselves....
Americans paid a huge price for the $13 billion bailout of the financial system( http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2011-11-28/secret-fed-loans-undisclosed-to-congress-gave-banks-13-billion-in-income.html ) and it wasn't just in money.
It was in being forgotten by our government: unemployment for us was allowed to skyrocket and continue year after year and still no end in sight....
wage improvements and benefit increases were abandoned and worse-- allowed to be rolled back.
job guarentees dropped and outsourcing allowed to continue and even accelerated.
it's been stimulus for those at the top of the economic ladder and stagnation for us at the bottom.
the ratio of government spending is up because the size of our economy has shrunk which makes the government spending portion look inflated.
if you research where there has been an increase in government spending you'll find that it is for "safety net" items like: unemployment insurance, food stamps, medicare, and similar items.
...which it should be - given our economic situation.

Thank you both for the input.

I am watching and hoping Cain will be on the ticket for the "R"s I believe he has what we need to turn around the job problem in the country.

Most European nations have a personal tax load of about 65%, yet they are awash in debt, and citizens in Greece are still demanding full retirement in their mid 50's.
Problem is, we were living and spending in a bubble; one that has now burst. Adjustments are inevitable.
I just see absolutely no good in trillions of dollars in debt spent attempting to keep the facade of economic prosperity. Look what it did to the Soviets.

If we want change, we ALL,

I honestly think that Workman's Comp is ran solely by the insurance company adjusters..The only way it will ever change, is if all the people affected by it , will really stand up and defend their rights and demand change in the system!! Why on earth does an adjuster get to make major medical decisions, determining what meds we need, or surgeries we need, or treatment we need,???? Are they qualified Doctors????? For real people, we either live with the present system that allows them to control the system, or we fight for the DOCTORS, (with education and degrees) to determine our meds and recovery process.
I sit by every day and watch countless people with major problems be run over by "THE SYSTEM" Now is the time to stand up and make a decision, you or them!!! I am only being realistic with a system that is supposedly set to " PROTECT THE WORKERS" Right!!!!
Contact TDI, Your elective officials, employers, and even the presidential nominations... We are way bigger and stronger than they are!!!, or sit by and get what the adjuster decides you should not get!!
