If I'm wrong and strict austerity and deficit reduction works to revive European economies then I could be persuaded to re-think and support it here in the US.

It was in being forgotten by our government: unemployment for us was allowed to skyrocket and continue year after year and still no end in sight....
wage improvements and benefit increases were abandoned and worse-- allowed to be rolled back.
job guarentees dropped and outsourcing allowed to continue and even accelerated.
it's been stimulus for those at the top of the economic ladder and stagnation for us at the bottom.

P.S.
the ratio of government spending is up because the size of our economy has shrunk which makes the government spending portion look inflated.
if you research where there has been an increase in government spending you'll find that it is for "safety net" items like: unemployment insurance, food stamps, medicare, and similar items.
...which it should be - given our economic situation.

I really do like Cain, although his knowledge of foreign issues is a concern. I have always thought Newt was a brilliant guy, and he has shone in the debates, but he is almost too smart to be president. He can shoot himself in the foot pretty easily, and will be a lightning rod for the main stream media.

I think Romney will end up the nominee, as he has the organization to turn out the votes. He is a competent businessman, and surrounded by the right people, could be an effective president. IMHO.
