What to do - mmanna - 09-07-2011 07:08 PM

Hello I live in Florida and i hurt my back the first time in June. I told my supervisor but he never reported it. I did get to keep working even though was in pain. I again hurt my back in July and told him again. Now to make a long story short. In August i was laid off because the business was sold. I did call a lawyer and they told me to call the insurance to report the injury. I dont know what to do next. I have not signed any papers with the lawyer yet. I did get a call from the Nurse who is supposed to set up a Dr. appointment. I did go to the er and was told to see a pain management Dr. which i dont want to do since i dont see how they can fix me. I would appreciate any suggestions.

the employer/carrier has to approve your doctors and treatment.
go to the doctor that the nurse assigns you to and follow the treatment recommendations.

You can contact the Employee Assistance Office of the Division of Workers' Compensation and they can explain the system to you and help you. http://www.workerscompensation.com/state_telephone/telephone_list.php?state=FL
