Prayers for sons - Manley2 - 04-04-2011 10:16 AM

Well my oldest son finished his 4 years with the Marine Corp on Friday. His brother flew out to ride home with him since it would be a drive from CA to IL. I really wanted to go and come back with them because I just had a bad feeling about that drive home. I worried they would try to drive too much and things like that. Well my son told me he would love for me to come out but he was worried with my back troubles and all that the ride would just kill me.
Last night I sent them a message and asked if they had made it into Denver where they were going to stop for the night and the reply was no the stopped in Vail but don't go to bed before one of them called me. Well he parked his truck upside down in the middle of I70. Now both are fine, one has a few cuts and stuff but nothing bad at all, unless he didn't tell me the full story. Please say a prayer for them because that is only about half way home. Now they need to see about getting a big enough vehicle to get them and all his stuff home.
I just can't tell you how bad I feel about not being there to help them. Being unable to work for the rest of my life because of a work injury is hard enough but not being able to be there for your kids because of it just pushes you over the edge. God what is your plan for me? I ask daily what is your plan for me and what can I do for you. I pray for the answer.

Saying prayers for your sons, Manley where were they when this happened?

Just curious as I am in Kansas.

So sorry to hear, glad they are ok... I hope they have a safer trip the rest of the way......

Prayers that they make it home safely. That area of I70 is so very, very scary, driven it a few times. Signs on the highway that wrecks pull over to the right, well the right is the river, absolutely no shoulders on most of that road.

Hope they're home soon.

They were in Vail,CO They are taking I70 to St Louis and then up to central IL. Well they got a suburban rented for the one way trip for under $400 with full coverage so that wasn't too bad but still a big added expense. I was so worried because they left allot of his stuff with the truck but then today I found out the guy that towed it was a Marine and he took good care of the truck overnight for them. They got all loaded up and back on the road for home around noon today so they might be home late tomorrow, as long as they don't run into any more trouble. Thanks for the prayers. It's just just a strain on me when I think about not being there and what my injury really keeps me from being able to do any more.

Manley you were ment to not be there....with your injuries you might not have survived the roll over.....this will bond your sons even closer....Never drive faster than your guardian angel can fly.....

That is what my wife was trying to tell me last night but I feel if I was there it would not have happened. You know more about everything going on and this just wasn't the time for anything like this.
