Appointment today/Neurosurgeon - Bummer Knees - 01-12-2011 10:00 AM I have an appointment with the neurosurgeon this morning. With the extreme weather conditions my husband has decided to drive me to the appointment as I do not do well with ice/snow. At this appointment the neurosurgeon will be discussing the recent emg/nct and the MRI taken in December. The MRI shows a change with the herniation effacing the sub arachnoid space, does anyone know what that means? THe doctor wants to discuss surgery and I do have a list of questions for him, thanks to Body Builder and other members of this forum who helped me complete my list of questions. Please say a prayer that we have a safe trip to Wichita in this extreme cold weather. Thank you everyone and bless you Bummer Knees RE: Appointment today/Neurosurgeon - Bummer Knees - 01-12-2011 04:22 PM I was able to have my questions answered today. I have stuggled for a while whether to have surgery; well I made the decision today to go ahead and have the surgery. I just need to get my agenda book out and look at a date that will work for my family. I was given a scirpt for a pain patch and a script to restart physical therapy and continue until I have surgery. I am looking for web sites so I can read up on the ACDF cervical surgery, I want to be informed before I have surgery. I will say a prayer for you surgery and recovery. Hope this will provide the help you need. RE: Appointment today/Neurosurgeon - jayne - 01-12-2011 10:41 PM Kathy I also went to the Dr today,I have had a killer cervical headache for about 10 days...went in today and spoke to him and the only recourse is more surgery and that will stabilize but may do nothing for the pain.....moving my neck now is like bubblewrap popping RE: Appointment today/Neurosurgeon - Bummer Knees - 01-13-2011 03:54 AM Jayne I am so sorry, are you going to have the surgery? Will you be in the hospital long after surgery? My surgery will involve donor bone & hardware. RE: Appointment today/Neurosurgeon - jayne - 01-13-2011 10:51 AM no Kathy I wont...it will only work for a year or so then more will go.... RE: Appointment today/Neurosurgeon - Bummer Knees - 01-13-2011 12:58 PM Jayne I asked my surgeon if this surgery would start a chain of surgeries and he said no because only level is involved RE: Appointment today/Neurosurgeon - jayne - 01-13-2011 03:55 PM Okay Kathy he is right it will not lead to a chain of surgerys but it will lead to a chain of disc failures...you do not have to have surgery for them... RE: Appointment today/Neurosurgeon - Bummer Knees - 01-13-2011 04:19 PM One thing the surgeon did tell me is, "If you fall it could make things much worse" I depend on the cane now more than ever especially with the ice on the ground. RE: Appointment today/Neurosurgeon - jayne - 01-13-2011 04:30 PM yes that will be true even after the fusion.... |
