MRI Report from neurosurgeon - Bummer Knees - 04-12-2010 05:57 PM I had a MRI of the lumbar spine 2009, recently I went to a neurosurgeon. He did his own reading of the MRI film with his report reading different from the radiologist written report. Here is what the neurosurgeon wrote: MRI of the lumbar spine revealed L1-L2, L4,L5, and L5, S1 degenative changes with collaspe of disc, no significant stenosis, and collaspe of disc at L1-L2 with anterior disc buldge at L5-S1. There is a mild widening of joint space, but no significant narrowing. Recomendation: She may consider physical therapy, traction, as well as epidural steriod injections. From a lumbar standpoint she may consider fusion at L4-L5 and L5-S1, however it is not clear how much benefit she will receive in the right lower extremity complaints. The doctor also discussed the area at L4 the area, the foreamin shows up with a large area of white on the MRI. ....................... I do consider myself fortunate with having no major bulges or hernations. I really like this doctor, he is one bodybuilder use to work with and recommended. I do have a question and that is what is collaspe of disc and what does this mean? I am trying to look at this from a positive point and hope to put together a plan to reduce the pain and regain some mobility. RE: MRI Report from neurosurgeon - Bad Boy Bad Boy - 04-13-2010 10:12 AM Bummer, my opinion is, an up-dated MRI and doctor's statement would be needed. Also the need to compare the 2 together, to see if anything changed or progessed. Or better yet, a Myleogram be performed RE: MRI Report from neurosurgeon - Cycler - 04-13-2010 10:53 AM So this is not work related conditions then ? RE: MRI Report from neurosurgeon - Bummer Knees - 04-13-2010 11:27 AM Thanks Bad Boy & Cycler The surgeon also suggested another MRI. I'm not for sure what a myleogram is, but witll check it out. Cycler I paid for this appointment to get an opinion on the back, I did not mention work comp or the auto accident. All of the IME doctor's say in their reports the back is related to the wc injury due to the altered gait. Two of the doctors say I need future treatment. The doctor the insurance company sent me to says no more treatment. RE: MRI Report from neurosurgeon - Still in Limbo - 04-13-2010 02:43 PM As I Mentioned in Our PM, I am also in Agreement for a New MRI, with/without Contrast to Show for Scar Tissue at the Foranim. Fusion would be Good for Stability of the Spine, but it won't Help with the Other Complications causing the Pain. Sorry to Say that Bummer, I am Dealing with Advanced Left Side Changes Right now, and it's My Right Side that was Injured!! All a Part of the Domino Effect, and Something I have to Learn to Deal with!! My Very Best to You!!
RE: MRI Report from neurosurgeon - Bummer Knees - 04-13-2010 02:54 PM Thank you Still In Limbo, soon as I can afford another MRI I will have one. Right now I am paying for the hand surgery & therapy bills. I should be reimbursed for the bill, just don't know how long it will take due to the appeals. |
