I just saw on the news where a 14 year old boy died from huffing computer cleaner. You know the spray thing you clean your keyboard with. This boy was the son of a cop and nurse and they said they had talked to him about drugs, but never thought something as innocent as a computer cleaner would be used as a drug. They reported that children everywhere are huffing household products to get high. I just thought I would warn parents and grandparents they should watch their kids and grandkids with these products. I never realized how widespead this problem has become until I watched this heartbreaking story.
how sad, thank you backache for posting this story, it is so sad that even though these parents thought they had talked to there son about drugs he still died.
Thanks for the Update Backache, I just saw a Story on the Today Show about it, and it Showed People Selling Kids the Stuff even though They said They were going to "Huff"!! They were Using a 9 Year Old and a 14 Year Old, and a Hidden Camera!! Some Turned Them Down, but Others Sold it to Them!! it Surely is Getting Popular among the Kids, I just always Worry when They do Segments on Things as This, for Fear that a Kid Might try after Seeing it!! But let's Hope it does Much More Good than Harm!!Wink
That was the show I watched and it scared me to death. I remember when I was very young, kids use to sniff airplane glue, I think that is what it was. My Mom made my brothers get rid of all their model car kits.
What next!!!!!!!!!! Lord first it was our kids and now we have to worry about the younger generation also, will it ever stop? I remember the glue sniffing thing. amongst others. Thanks Backache for the heads up, I will pass it to all I know.
Tuffy it is so scary out there these days. I always laughed at Mom when she said she wanted the good old days....well Mom now I want the good old days...
Contact your local public school's main office and ask them to put on a parents' drug awareness/gang awareness night with the local law enforcement office. The school's receive funding to do this kind of education training for the community, and it is very enlightening. The law enforcement will let you know about all the "local" gangs and what to look for in your children and who they hang out with.
Thanks Chris I will do that....
Backache Ididn't answer before because living right outside a large city I knew of this for the past couple of years. We have had more traffic deaths in a 3 county area of teens huffing and driving I can't even remember. So tragic. Started quite a few years ago with 5 young 16 year old girls. All from very wealthy , families, lived in one of the best most prominant sections. Just goes to show drugs have no boundaries. It has been accident and death and death of teens while huffing. So sad. One more drug added to the list. I also remember huffing of airplane glue. I guess I just don't remember so many kids on drugs when we were teens as there are now. And adults.
