When we went out this morning our garbage can was ripped apart. The bird feeder which I put on the front porch, right under our bedroom window, was smashed. The buck horns that Dave has on the other front porch were turned upside down. Apparently Mr. bear decided he was hungry and anything he could get into he did. Of course the two dogs who are 12 and 13 slept through the entire event, as we did. I don't think he knows bear season is right around the corner............I'm going to try and stay up tonight to see if I can see him...
WOW.........Bear steaks at Backachs and Dave's house. I will bring the coleslaw....
Great dogs you have backache. Tongue

I also had a visitor; Mr. or Mrs. Badger hit the garbage and left muddy footprints all over the walkway.
This is kind of funny,,,I walked out the other nite to put out my trash and there was a POSSUM, on my front step, He/she took off like a bat..............I sure wouldn't want to meet up with either a Badger or a Bear...... Those critters are really mean...
Tuffy bear yuck....it is tough and has a strong taste. Chris well they are both half blind and almost totally deaf...at one time they would put a fuss up, now they don't even care. LOL
Even the animals are feeling the economic crisis and coming closer to our doors for handouts. Tongue
How about ground up bear with BBQ sause????????????
I'll get in trouble for this, but only very young bear meat is any good. This guy was reaching about 8 feet up to get the deer rack so he isn't too little.
Last fall the wooded area across the street from our home was cleared (there's also a wetland adjacent to to). For about 2 weeks we had deer, bobcats (lost a cat to one, hubby snapped a picture as he was running off with poor Mia) and raccoons. The Coons were the funniest, we had a couple that kept on coming up to our back door, one night one looked like he wanted in. Every night for about a week the same coon would show up right at the back door as if to say 'honey I'm home, let me in', our cats weren't too thrilled though.

So..., staying up tonight with a shot gun? I have a couple recipes for bear in case you're interested. Don't hit him in the head, it just pisses them off.
My brother-in-law found that out the hard way when he lived in Alaska.

Stay safe,
BB
lol when we moved to Alaska they asked what kind of gun I carried and I told them a 44 long barrel they told me to be sure and shave the site off..... so it wouldnt hurt so bad when the bear took it away from me and shoved it up my butt....
