I attended a national conference held in Wichita today.

The focus of the conference was on individuals with Autism and supports.

The Keynote speaker shared with us; children with all disabilities are not a part of the Health Care Reform Bill.

We were told to contact members of Congress.

Just thought I would share..........
it is not what people think it is or what was promised......it is more of the same ol give me your money and I will give you squat
I think it is still too early to be making judgments. But I find all of the arguing over the different bills frustrating. We all know the system needs fixing. Surly getting down to it and at least starting something and letting it go through would be a start. I don't know. The government here is not what I am used to, so I can't say with any authority. But look, we all on here, we are basically falling through the system. So are many others. It just isn't right.

Sorry if I offend anyone. I don't mean to. Remember that I come from the British so called "social" health care. I never had problems over that. Had surgeries and never waited. Had my daughter and stayed in hospital for ten days with no probelms..district nurse visiting every day for two weeks after. Then a home visit from my own g.p. (doctor) to make sure mum and baby were all well. My daughter was born with complications so we ended up back in hospital for three months. Me in a parents home adjacent to the scbu....special care baby unit. I never once felt in fear of not being taken care of or waiting for care.

Much later, once I had severe chest pains at night. I am a single parent so I was really worried that something might happen while my daughter was asleep. I called the doctors on cover...it was about 11 pm. And they felt it would be a good idea to come around to check me over. After that they called the next morning to make sure I was ok.

See? I felt like I was treated very special. Not like now on w/c when I get treated like a supposed criminal. It is very disheartening.

No offense taken, what I posted above on the new helath care bill is what the keynote speaker shared at a national conference on Autism I attended yesterday.

I spent time in Copenhagen, Denmark and can tell you the Danish are very happy with the health care they have in place.
Bag...this sounds like exactly what we need. Can't beat what you had...we have never had a system like that in place. Not run by the government OR insurance industry.
From trying to Follow as much as I can on the News, (Which I'm aware They Only Tell You what They are allowed to), and by Watching Different News Channels, I'm still as Confused as Day One. There are also a Great Many People Like Myself, for an Example, BX4's Wife's Employer is Stopping Her Insurance Co-Pays and no Longer Offering Insurance through Her Workplace at the End of This Year, and Supposedly if All of this Passes, it won't even go into Effect until 2013!! Employers and Individuals are Panicking, and when that Happens, there is Usually Very bad Decisions Made! What's BX4's Wife going to do if They can't Afford to Pay for Their Own Plan? And Cutting half a Billion from Medicare is going to Really Hurt the Elderly, and Probably Me also, as I'm on Medicare and SSDI from My Workplace Injury, I had no Other Underlying Medical Problems other slight Hypertension when I Applied at the Age of 43, and I was Approved in 3mos./3wks. without and Attorney, so that May give You an Idea How Severe My Injury is. I went for a Check-Up just Friday and I was Told I had BP. of 120 over 80, Pulse 72, and All of My Blood Levels are Perfect, She actually Said I could be in a Medical Journal as far as My Health without My Injury. I have to Take Meds. to Obtain the Levels I Have, but I never Needed them Before the Injury!! She was Out of any Type of Flu Medicine, I'm to Call Weekly and get there A.S.A.P. if They do Have it, before it's All Gone!! Sorry to be so Long, it's just Very Frustrating to Me to Watch All of this Happen, and Feel as if There is Very Little I can do about it!! I know I can Contact My Congressman, and Voice My Opinion and Concerns, but this is One Time in My Life that I don't Think even They have any Control Over what is Happening!!Wink
People involved in this argument seem to forget one thing. If healthcare reform becomes law it will be atleast FOUR years before it starts helping anyone. Four long years of denial, death, pain..., etc.
That's Why I Mentioned it won't Take Effect until 2013. And the Start Up Money for This System is going to be Astronomical, and the Burden of Re-Payment is going to be Placed on Our Children and Grand-Children!! Many, Many Small Business Employers are going to Stop Offering Health Care, and Many are going to be without Health Care for Quite a While until This Program gets Started! So Yes, Many will Suffer, and Possibly Die due to The Fear of the Changes Coming, and Many Dropping Their Ins., leaving Themselves Unprotected due to the Cost of trying to Buy Plans on Their Own!! The Main Key to a Healthy Health Care System, Anywhere in this World is Preventive Care, and Finding Potential Serious Problems Early! How are We going to be able to do that if the Average American is caught in The Change Over, and can't Afford to See the Dr.!! Very Scary Times are Ahead I Fear!!
If one is bored, or desperate to see what was passed in the night time hours last night, here is the full 1900+ pages of the bill.

I have 3 special needs children in the home, 2 with chronic medical conditions.

With my son's many medical needs being uninsured would quickly place him in a life/death situation.

I come from a family of small business owners, my hubby and silbings each own their own business, as did my husband's parents.

Hubby's business is a small wholesale company with 15 employees. All full time employees have major medical insurance coverage with the company paying a part of the monthy charge.

I worrry how the health care bill will effect our business, and as a small business will we be able to keep our doors open.
