The rain has stopped but the river is still coming up. It is within about 75 feet of the back door. Thank goodness we are up on a ridge or we would have had to leave. Willl be watching the water for the next couple days as they have the flood gates open up river and the water will continue to come up until it crests and that will be a couple more days. I hope that all are safe from the high waters. The temperature has dropped and will be in the 30's tonight.
RNvic please stay safe and leave your home if need be.

I grew up in a flood area, several times we evacuated in the middle of the night due to flooding.

When my older sister was 18 months old and my mother was expecting me, it was flooding and they were home alone.

My mother tells me how she stacked furniture for her & sister to climb onto the roof of our home.

They sat on the roof top for hours until some men in a boat evacuated them to safety.

My Father was stranded in Wichita at one of the aircraft plants and couldn't make it home due to the flooding.

A few days later when the roads were clear everyone was united.
Please Stay Safe RN!! And get the Heck out of There if it Rises too Close, give Yourself Plenty of Time!!Wink
We are keeping a close watch on the water and hope for no more rain. Landlord said the water is higher than he has ever seen it, His house is closer to the water than we are so know he is watching it and will come and tell us to leave if need to.
