Still- when they sent me to the hospital I was not sure what was going to happen. I just know that without the many prayers that went up last year, I would not have still been with you all. The prayers of this group have more than once pulled me though this mess. Sorry to scare you Still, Didn't plan on scarring you as I know you have your hands full for now. Will be going back to the hospital again Monday morning to have them attempt to open the graft and get it working agin, if they can't get it to work wll have to place a new one.
RNVic,
You are always on my prayer list, but I will add some extra ones for success Monday. I hope that the Drs. can get you fixed up and correct this problem. I don't post much any more, but I do try to read the forum evry few days or so. I wish you good luck, keep the faith sweety.
Love
Vickie
RNVic,
I wanted to mention to you that the clinic has a couple of things they can be doing to try and prevent you from clotting your dialyzer and you continuing to lose blood because they cannot return it to you. This also give them and idea as to how fast your blood is clotting and if they should be looking at your blood thinner meds.

During your treatment they could be doing flushes on your dialyzer. They run about 200 of slaine to see if the dialyzer clears. They also need to add the fluid you will be getting during the flushes to the weight they will be removing. When they do these flushes if the dialyzer does not clear good then they need to inject some Heparin or whatever they use on you to help prevent the clotting. The flushes are usually done maybe 2 or 3 times during treatment depending on how long your treatment time is.

They can also do PT's on you to actually check your bloods clotting time. They also do this a coupe times or so again depending on your run time. If the blood clots too fast then they know you need more blood thinner during your treatment.

Do you know if they are doing any of these 2 things during your treatment time? If they are not then you need to make the suggestion that they do something because they should know to be doing these type of procedures.

Just trying to offer you some solutions to some of the problems you are having. I hope this may help you. God bless and good luck tomorrow with your graft surgery. I pray they are able to de-clot it and you not need another graft put in. Let us know what happens. Love ya!

Thanks for the prayers and MJC will talk to them about flushing the line while on dialysis and see if they have problems getting it to clear.
Glad to hear it wasn't more serious. Take care RNvic!
Add our prayer to the list for you please. Sorry I didn't get on here the last couple of days. Hope everything comes out okay
Thanks for welcoming me to the forum. RNVic directed me to the site and shared a wealth of info re:workers' comp. I have been off work since 6/17/08. Four surgeries: 2 cervical spine - anterior and posterior, c4-37; left and right hand carpal tunnel. Scheduled to return to work January 2nd. Next hearing the first week of February. I need some tips re: settlement - permanent partial disability.

RNVic, missed you this a.m. Keeping you in my prayers.

RNVic,
Oh those darn grafts that keep clotting off...gezzzzzzzzz.......I know what you mean. I think you said recently that they were having trouble with your clotting when you kept clotting off your dialyzer. Well, I guess this was a sign of this getting ready to happen. You said they were thinking about changing you to Coumadin. Did they change you or not? Until they get this under control I see where your graft clotting off would be a problem for you. I pray Monday they will be able to unclot the graft and you don't have to have a new one inserted. Saying my prayers and wishing you good luck.

Kitten,
