For the past week I have been having increased hip pain.. For some that dont know, durring my accident I had pelvis reconstruction surgery and the hip socket was rebuilt.. Lots & lots of hardware and many screws...
My orthapedic told me I would need a complete hip replacement but said it could be 1 year to 10 years.. Well it may be time, last week I could barely walk on it but kept working and called my primary, said cant help try your injury dr.. He was out of town till yesterday. Over the weekend it started feeling better so it was a relief until last night, I thought for sure it was going to pop out of place... Well I went through the same rutine forced my self to work and soon as I was off I started calling Drs.. Well the dr that has been taking care of me for my injuries said I need to go see my surgeon....

I finnaly get a call back from surgeons nurse and says I cant get in until next Mon.. I am also supposed to keep weight off that hip as much as I can and use a cane until thay see me.. She would not give a work restriction (or pull me off) Now how am I supposed to work, I load products off semi and cary them to my truck and then drive 180 miles delivering products to about 30 accounts all while using a cane and keeping weight off my bad hip........ Sounds a little out in left field, I guess if it pops out it pops out........

Just venting, and I know every one has different view points but what would you's do while still in the wc world............Bronco
Bronco can you go to the ER and get a off work slip? falling can be very dangerous....would it help to let your employer know what is happening? Good luck
Good luck Bronco!

You are the best judge of when you are ready & need the hip replacement.

I knew I was ready for the knee replacement with I could not place weight on the leg due to the knee buckling.

I have problems with the left hip, doctors said it is related to lack of treatment of the knee, along with the altered gait.
Bronco, your not all that far from me. being said, I was much like you with my knees those days. same situation, got some what better when the weather broke over the weekend too. Then like you, as the rain started moving back in, it started hurting again. Bummer been going through this also.

Could be arthritis...
BBBB, I hope your right for I dont want to go through this right now..

Jayne most definetly, I talked to employer tis morning. They were happy I shared that info and are letting me take a few shortcuts mon so I can make it there in time.. But as far as offering maybe a bit of sympathy and saying take off work, not a bit and infact my boss said I hope it dont pop out on my shift... I dont know if I used up all my sympathy cards or what but was shown no compassion..

I talked with ncm and she says if for any reason the pain gets worse, go directly to the er and demand exrays and call her she will make sure they get everything to my surgeon and get a work slip..
She also dont understand why my primary and injury dr had to make such a big deal on not helping me, after all it was just exrays and forwarding them to surgeon...

I have had pain in this hip since released from hospitol. First they said going to hurt then 1 year later scar tissue after 1 1/2 years of pt they said its as best as its going to get.. Lost alot of rom and is very stiff but never had pain like this before.

Thanks gang for your replies............Bronco
Any Chance of Hiring a Helper for a Few Days? If You can Drive, and let Them Lift, it will Naturally cut Your Profits a bit, but Save Your Hip!! Just a Thought, and I Hope You are taken Care of Soon!!Wink
Yep thought of that, and am getting my oldest nephew to ride along starting Friday.. I was out in tomahawk about 30 miles south helping wife with a part time job she has there, and got back into truck and my hip popped and feels a bit better, Dont know if it is a good thing but might be able to sleep a bit better..the wife noticed that my ankle and up my leg is black&blue and dont know why.. ... I am truley babying it for mon is a ways off..

Thanks for your input .......Bronco
Bronco....My husband had a hip replacement in May. Different reason than yours. His was diseased. Surgeon told him to keep weight off it as much as possible and that he would know when it's time as I believe Bummer said. The pain forced him to have it done. He couldn't take it anymore. We were told by the surgeon that if he had it done it wouldbe better than it giving out , breaking and then the surgery is much harder. Best of luck, will say a prayer it ends up best for you.
Bronco,
Sorry that you are experiencing more pain. Do what you have to do to see about yourself. Even if this means going to the ER to get medical attention. I pray your pain will subside and may God Bless you.

Well Good news / bad news.

I seen my surgeon today and had lots of exrays.
All the exrays turned out good and said the reconstruction of the hip is holding up fine.. Bad news, now have to have my local DR figure out where the pain is.. But its a relief knowing its not failing, I still have the pain and will deal with it.......
