I need to know how many health care providers (doctors) an injured worker can choose to see and will be covered by Workman comp. I am located in Nebraska and it was my understanding that the injured worker could choose up to 2 providers. It was also my understanding that if one provider of my choosing, referred me to another specialty provider, that it would still count as only me choosing one provider. It was my understanding that the insurance company had a right to choose as many doctors and/or referrals that they want. Can the insurance company tell the injured worker that they won't cover a provider even if the injured worker has only seen one dr of their choosing but have agreed to be seen by a total of 3 providers of the insurance company choosing?
Also, if the insurance company is scheduling a FCE, should they be worried? It has been noted that it is a functional capacity exam for a rating. Thank you. [/color]
There is not a number limit. you can only change doctors at certain times:
"There are other times when you can choose your doctor. These times are: to do major surgery; if your injury involves dismemberment; or, if your claim is denied."

See rule 50
