I am an assistant principal for a school district. Several of my co-workers and I were moved to different school. This is permitted because our contracts state that we work for the school district and not one particular school. I was working at middle school with a calm working environment. I was moved to a high school with an extremely fast passed and overwhelming working environment. Since working there, I have been having panic attacks, been taken by ambulance to the hospital for what seemed to be stress related, my blood pressure has been elevated. I am now taking anti-anxiety medication, nausea medication (vomiting at school), and medication for stomach cramping. I have taken 4 sick days in 30 days of school. Last year I took on 6 sick days in 210 days of school. I have spoken with my supervisor and he has been very understand. However, he does not have the authority to make any changes to my position. I plan to meet with his supervisor, and maybe the human resource director next week. I know this is work related. But does it merit worker comp. Also, can someone give me some information that I might need or state when I meet with them?
It depends on your state whether a mental stress claim is covered by workers comp and then before it can be accepted as work related you'll need medical documentation. each state has different laws on work comp injuries especially on stress related claims.
what is your state?
