My doctor suggested this medication for me. He did say it is expensive and most insurance companies won't pay for it.
Does anyone have any experience with this medication?
I am unable to take mobic, or NASID, I don't really think I could take this meds so I told the doctor I wasn't interested.
And as everyone knows I am a fighter when it comes to taking meds.
Thanks

Bummer, I take Celebrex 200 mg per day, for inflamation. It works very well, expecially for my spine. I notice I have a lot of neck pain when don't take it.
It is supposed to be easier on your stomach than some of the other nsaid type medications. However, I still have to take prilosec capsures every day in order to tolerate all my meds.
WC pays for this med, and the prilosec capsules.
If are looking to get it under your regular insurance, sometimes it takes a letter from your doctor to the insurance company stating why he wants you to take this medication. The only reason is because there is no generic and it costs the I/C more. I've had to do that with Cymbalta as there is no generic for it.
For me it works well. I hope it does for you too. Maybe your doctor can give you a trial first.

celebrex is an NSAID although one with allegedly gut sparing properties ( COX II inhibitor type) ..but there is still risk.

Bummer- Celebrex is the medication that shut my kidneys down.
RNvic thank you for that information.
Just put this medication on my no list, I won't be taking it!.
It's such a shame that most of the drugs that really help have so many bad side effects.

I take celebrex too, 200 mg twice a day and really does help with the inflamation. I have tried mobic also and had problems being dizzy and light headed and just didnt get any relief..... When I get my injections Drs make me stop taking 3 to 5 days before and let me tell you thats when I know how good it works. Cause my hip and lower back pain gets a lot worse...........
Even though its scarry to take any n-said I was told it is about the safest.. As far as kidneys, dr should be testing your blood and such regularly..... I would give it a try it may work for you or it wont but then you know.... Good luck
Thanks bronco, perhaps I need to take another look at this meds.
Does wc pay for the meds?
Part of my problem is the cost of the meds.
I pay for all of my meds, not wc.
WC pays for mine here in WI , if I had to buy them a month supply would cost me $253.32.
The only treatment I have received by the wc doctor has been for the knees.
My family doctor has written the script for my meds for other injuried parts as I haven't received treatment from wc.
Hope that changes Tuesday with the court hearing.
