Hi All,

Sorry I forgot to ask this on my 1st post: I had Physical Therapy for awhile. the PT said I had issues withmy left scapula and decided to "do this thing using tape under my arm". When I removed it, two days later as instructed, the tape ripped my skin off. Now I have an ugly mark near the side of my underarm. Does WC take this permanent scarring into concideration when settling?
Thanks
yes there are provisions for disfigurement and scarring.

Is that in all states or just certain ones?

there is little or nothing in workers comp that applies to all states equally.
only certain states provide for scars and each that does limits it in different ways.

I live in Florida and I have a bunch of scars on my hand, seven to be exact and my hand is "deformed" from all my surgeries.
But I think in Florida it is only head/face and neck I am not sure.
I do hate it though because everyone I come in contact with noticed my hand.

If your state utilizes the AMA Guides for impairment ratings then there is a table in Chapter 8 that rates scars and skin problems so maybe.....

It is very likely this "ugly mark" will improve over time. I have a 18 inch scar from surgery wrapped around my left side. The scar is damn ugly but has faded in color the last 3 years.

You might get something but a piece of tape causing bigtime permanent scarring? How long ago was this?

I can say, I had my shoulders taped up before also, and on removal, skin came off, and a rash under the tape as well. It all disapeared in time. Meaning no money would then be added as an extra benifit.
Yea, I was hoping it would go away but it is permanente. It has been a few months. I have tried Aloe Vera plants and Cocoa Butter. I have madeappt. w/the Dr. to see if he can prescribe something. The scar is dark and ugly, no longer painful. I just want it to go away!
I dried a few things, maderma, and it really didn't do anything. The only thing with mine is the doctor cut across the original surgery scar and it opened when he did that and now it is brown and purple, plus I also have a big lump on my wrist. I have a scar pad and used it but I really don't know those are suppose to help.
