My boyfriends son got hurt at work and is going to have surgery done soon. He is going to be out for probably three months. He has an insurance that covers him if he can not work.(disability insurance) Can he use this? Or will that offset with what w/c gives him? So if his TTD lets say was 500 a week and the disability insurance gave him 300 a week would work comp only give him the difference of 200 a week?
He is also in Florida
yes he can use it.
whether there is an offset depends on the contract terms. He should review the policy provisions and call the carrier for questions. each disability carrier has many different insurance products.
if there is an offset, disabilility carrier will pay the difference between comp and salary. comp is primary.
depends on rules of the disability company. the one i have here in ga you can't use both std/ltd and wc at the same time. but if you have a seperate accident policy i think you can use it at same time if you are out due to and accidental injury.
