My mother is an RN and has been for approx. 30 years. There is a local furniture company here in NC that is constantly growing. It's a fairly new company. My mother is wanting to send her resume to this company along with the advantages that they would have by hiring her. She thinks that it would effect worker's comp in a good way but doesn't know all the ways it would be advantageous for the company. Does anyone know how it would be an advantage for this company to hire an onsite nurse as far as worker's comp is concerned? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
many work comp carriers use nurse case managers to help control medical costs and usage as well as troubleshoot complex medical treatment issues. employers that are self-insured may have similar needs.
occassionally health care professionals can be of service in loss control, Industrial Hygene, and safety services to large employers.
Obviously she should be well versed in NC work comp medical laws, regulations, procedures, reportings etc. as well as industrial medical protocols, therapies, exposures, etc.
