I know this is kinda my fault because i probably should have known the Workmans comp laws, but iv never had to use workmans before so i didnt know what to do when i got hurt. My boss was in Florida and i called him to see what i was supposed to do and he told me to go to the hospital and then bring him the bill. Trusting my employer i did what he said to do and never even thought about tell the hospital that i was at work when i got because i really didnt think it matters. I thought he would take care of it. Now 6 months later here i am sitting with a 2000 dollar hospital bill that i cant afford to pay and my boss who swore he would take care of it keeps on conveniently forgeting to go do it. i was irritated after one month, even more so at 2 so im sure u can imagine how i feel right now after 6. Is there anything that i can do. I really cant afford the bill because i work a full time job, i am working on 2 associates degree and my chef certification from the ACF and all that adds up. Monthly tuition bill are just about breaking me. iv normally only got 20 or 30 bucks after bills when i get paid. I just really need to know if there is anything i can do so he has to pay it or am i pretty much stuck with the bill because i was to stupid to actually learn the workmans comp laws. advice please. Anyone
All may not be lost yet. We need to know what state you are in. The laws and rules are different from state to state.

Take Care
Request a WC hearing in your state asap.
The State You were Injured in is Very Important, as AQA has Said, there are Time Limits to File a w/c Claim, and Each State is Different!Wink

Hopefully you have some witness a co-worker or other than can confirm that your boss told you he would pay for this. If you do, you can probably proceed through WC--or take your witness to small claims court with you to receive payment from your employer.

Other than that--it's really your word against your employers.
