I'm sitting here at the computer trying to decide if I need to go to ER at the local hospital.
I really don't want to, don't want the big medical bill that goes with the ER visit, and I still wait on the judge's decision for adding the back to the claim
Here's what is going on;
I've had intense burning pain in the right hip, and back/bottom for several days. Well, today it has gotten worse, can't be on my feet for more then a couple of minutes at a time. The burning goes down the back of the leg to the knee, below the knee the leg & foot feels asleep.
And we leave on vacation tomorrow.
Does anyone know what is going on with me?
Thanks
Bummer Knees
On the pain scale I am at a 9/10 and that is while sitting down.
Bummer sounds like sciatica to me. Some folks don't realize just how painful it can be. I have needed trigger point injections a few times , it was so bad I couldn't put my put down, it has brought me to tears more than once. Now as soon as it starts I alternate ice and heat, make sure I stretch and take pain meds as needed. It usually takes about a week until I am pain free again. I hope this eases up for you and you can have a good vacation.
Those symptoms are close to the ones that put me in the ER. There are only two discrepencies. mine was on the left and I could not walk on the left foot at all. If you don't mind the question. When you are able to walk, can you push off with your right toes??? Can you stand on your right toes???? Both of those questions relate to your right calf muscel.
Mine was related to a shattered disc. that was appling pressue to the S1 nerve. My guess is that you have something pressing on yours. I do know, that when I went to the er I could not sit without having to do it on my side. I say that because I have some concern in reference to the word "vacation" that you used.
Take care
Thank you Cap & AQA
I do have sciatia nerve pain.
This is on the right side and I am able to put weight on the foot, although not for more then a couple of minutes today.
I also have stabbing pain in the low back if I bend to pick up something from the floor.
AQA sometimes I can push off with right foot and other times I can not, the more I'm on my feet the more likely I'm unable to push off with the right foot. I often do a swing walk instead of pushing off with the foot.
I really do need to get things together for vacation tomorrow but the pain increases when I try and do any work.
My injury was 2005 and I have never been in ER for my injury, if this continues thats where I will go.
Sounds like sciatica to me but we can't diagnose you girl, you really need to go to the ER and see what's going on. I hope you feel better and can manage to try and enjoy your vacation.
Hugs,
monster
Thank you Monster
I went to bed after my last post. I have feeling below the knee and in the foot this morning, and do feel a little better.
We were to leave on vacation early this morning but delayed leaving until later today.
Yesterday I went to the store to pickup a couple of things for the trip, didn't get a chance to pack anything for the trip. As the day went on the pain got worse.
I am guilty of ignoring my symptoms until they get to the point of no return, then I am forced to take pain meds and go to bed.
We will be leaving for Grand Lake Oklahoma later today and will return Wednesday.
No camping for me, I will be in an air condition motel or cabin. (Laughing)

Bummer, You have a Pinched, or Compressed Nerve, Possibly the Sciatica or One gong to the Sciatica! If You "Bump" a Nerve, such as Turning the Wrong Way and getting Pain, these aren't for Major Concern, as they will Heal as You Rest and Sleep. A Pinched, Compressed, or Impinged Nerve, (They are all about the Same Meaning for the Same thing) don't go away on Their Own, and need Released or the Damage can be Permanent, or Very Hard to Heal!! I think to be able to Enjoy Your Trip, You need a Visit so You can See what's going on, I and You know what Permanent Nerve Damage feels Like, and No Vacation is worth One of Those!! It may take You a Day or Two before You get to Leave on Your Trip, but Better Safe than Sorry!!!
Bummer,
I realize that you may have already left for your vacation. I was gone till today camping, and just read this and also I answered the PM. I agree about the nerve theory because I have that problem also, but I also have SI Joint dysfunction as well as periformis syndrome. They have many of the same symptoms, the periformis is a muscle in your butt cheeks and when it is inflamed or knotted up, it will press on the sciatic nerve. At PT I was given stretching excersises(sp?) for it. I also have my L4 exiting nerve surrounded by scar tissue since they did surgery on the L4 disc which was crushing that nerve.
You should get it checked out for a proper diagnosis. As we now you don't like to take your meds, but if you don't take your pain meds until your in severe pain, they don't work as well. You need to take as directed by your doctor and keep it consistent. I hope you feel better soon.

I am home from vacation, we had a great time!
I do agree with this being the nerve. I remember when I had the 1st injection the doctor told me what nerve was involved and gave me a diagnosis, this was August 2007.
I do have the burning pain everyday and it just dosen't let up.
I really do not know if this will go away as I've had the symptoms since late 2005.
